I always remember before I brought my chimaera I was told that TVRs get in to your blood! Well I sold my chimaera nearly a year ago for a z4 as it made a more reliable every day car! I thought i would get over the car! NOPE! Not a day has font by where I have not thought about TVR or looked in the classifieds! I want one so much but I need to save my money for a house!!! Grrrrr I tell myself it's just a car not that it helps!

there another guy on her ZED4 i think who has just arrived to the fold from a Z4M I think so interesting to here his opinion on this also, as I think he his enjoying all the little niggles that these cars get, which is all part of the fun, and very rewarding when you fix them yourself. smile Sod the the house, carry on renting and get another TVR, and enjoy life instead of getting weighted down with a mortgage and all the other bills that come with it.

I like your idea, sadly for me I still live with my parents and I am at that point where I am really ready to move out! There really is nothing else like a TVR despite their faults they are simply brilliant from their looks to the sound alone! Back to the classifieds I think!

I have looked into this phenomenom, and can tell you that the cause is not physical, it's mental, although the symptoms often present in a physical manner. Combatting the physical symptoms is possible, but will invariably involve large quantities of alcohol, or in severe cases, banned substances (carpet glue is a favourite). Mental treatment can be found, such as counselling, or, again in severe cases, hypno therapy. The former, whilst successful in most cases, can have side effects such as schizophrenia, and can be embarrasing if your councellor is a fit 20 something bird. The female species also tend to be lacking on the sympathy front, which can detract from the councelling experience. Hypno therapy, although useful for certain issues, such as giving up the weed, can also mess with your bonce, indeed there are known cases where the subject has suddenly 'awakened', to find themselves driving an Evo, or worse, an M3. There is only one real cure for this debilitating illness, and we all know what that is smile

I hope this has been of some help, and wish you a speedy recovery.

Sincerely yours,

Chilli wink

I wanted to reply sooner but my face was stuck to our newly layed carpet hippy.

Its not a disease as you do not catch it, But a drug, not unlike Heroin, you ponder what its like, you hear wonderful things aswell as the horror stories about it, then one day your curiosity gets the better of you and you give it a try and,
BOOM, One hit and you are addicted.
I crave to drive it, sit in it, listen to it, or just be in close proximity of it, I know that I am not alone and there are very few, if any, other marques that have that much of a profound effect on the human psychy.
And its legal( Most of the time),
"Dad why has that man got such a big smile on his face ?"
and the reply,
"Did you see the car he got out of ?, Its called a TVR"

I've just got mine back from being repaired after a small shunt and I had withdrawl symptoms whilst waiting.

I've been driving my wife's TT Roadster 225 while it was away and OMG what a relief it is to have the Chim back!

Saying that, I'd forgotten how "manly" it is, the clutch and gearchange are like moving huge lumps of machinery...reminds me of an old railway signal box! I love it!

Glad that you have it back now Jules, Did you get all the insurance sorted from the 3rd party or is that another story?
Hope you are pleased with the work that was done and no further damage found smile

Sold mine in 2004 when I married (not the reason) took semi retirement, moved to the Western Isles, had a son.
They are expensive to run (fuel) impractical as a family car.
As I approach 60 (in April), now live in Yorkshire, currently drive an old Volvo Estate and have an unloved Mini Clubman (1971) in the garage, I read through all the classifieds etc every day. Wife says to me "is there not one car you would want to have and keep".........well I loved my Caterham, my E30M3, the imps, Clan, Lotus 7, Elan, Excel but if it had to be one car.........it would be another Chimaera.

I'd definately say it's more like a drug. I went to look at loads of cars when I was in the market for 'something fun' - XKR, Z4, M3, S2000 etc etc. I saw (heard) a Chimaera fly past me and from then on I knew I wanted one. I couldn't give a decent reason for buying it over some others I saw that might have been in better condition, more reliable or economic, doesn't matter. I got a train up to Scotland and driving back was the happiest 5 hours ever!
I hate winter so much more now because she's tucked up on the drive

Get another Chimaera. Your wife will breathe a sigh of relief when you find 5000 new friends to talk to and have fun with, and she will love the smile glued to your face. I am 60 this year, my wife is delighted or me.
Getting withdrawal symptoms at the moment - car has been at the TVR specialist for three weeks, two days and 11 hours and counting.......

This is the first year for a long time that I have been p!55ed with the weather, the penny had just dropped.

Been driving mine most of the winter, now having some upgrades (the car, not me, though I could do with some). They are easy to drive in winter with the correct tyres on - you just need a spare set of wheels shod with typical road tyres that you would have on any normal saloon, or if you feel rich, some Toyo R1Rs. And no, I would no more go out in it in a snow storm than I would in any unsuitable rear wheel drive car. driving

Dear Diedre,

I bought my first ever TVR 22 days ago but for the past 9 days its been in the garage having a service and waiting for a camshaft to be delivered.

I think I'm going through withdrawal symptoms despite only having the car a short time.

Is this normal?

Yours worried,

Karl.

Dear Karl

As the old addage says "Absence makes the the heart grow fonder".
And it has never been more accurate than in the case of TVR ownership, and it is something that you may have to get used to.
Hopefully you will both be reunited very soon and you can have long moonlight drives and plenty of quality time together to make up for the period you were seperated.
Remember to spoil her with her drink of choice, and maybe even treat her to a set of new shoes.
I hope this relationship will last an eternity for you.

Diedre

Dear Karl
You think you are suffering???
Having driven 6000 miles in Niggles in 9 months, he has been in the garage since 25th February, ie 26 days 9 hours 44 minutes and 17 seconds. And he will be there for at least another week, probably two.
All I can say is thank the Lord for this crap weather. May it snow or another two weeks. Even driving someone else's around Bedford Autodrome in the pouring rain last Saturday didn't really help . I want Niggles back!!
Yours, in total withdrawal
Muggins
