I'm in the process of buying a Panny 65VT50 but need something to put the damn thing on!! SWMBO and I were quite keen on the below:

http://www.big-av.co.uk/product/bdi/ola-8137-cw

but (typically) the mrs is now having reservations - will the wood clash with whatever (probably) wood flooring we lay in the next year or so? will it clash with the colour we choose for our walls? is it too much ££?

Now on the latter I can appreciate her thought process - but if we take that price as our max then there's not a whole lot else on offer with our requirements (everything must be hidden away SWMBO hates seeing all the equipment). If we were going for a 55" or even a 60" there'd be a plethora of choices but 65 not so much. Any ideas out there?

If you are happy spending that sort of money, I would contact a decent cabinet maker and have something built. I'd guess you can have something to whatever specs you want for less than that.

lol "HAPPY" would be pushing the point somewhat!! I think it's more a case of grudgingly accepting that this is the (ballpark) of how much it may end up costing frown oh well, more research

Any reason for not wall mounting it?

When mine first arrived and I put it on its stand it looked far too big for the room. Then I decided to wall mount it and I find it is far less dominating in the room now it is mounted to the wall.

We make more traditional English cabinets. For the plasma, we make one with the apearance of two drawers with a small cupboard to each side. The two "drawers" are folding flaps for your DVD Sky etc.
PM me if you want a photo

I've got a bdi unit and it's great. Here's a pic of it with my old and contrasting B&W's. Looks fine. I've now replaced them with PMC OB1i's that match the wood of the unit much better, but my Mrs preferred the old B&W's...

Ah well.
