HI lads is there anybody out there who can help me , my tem guage was giveing me a wrong reading when i turned car on it would go to off the bottom by about 5/6 mm , any way cut along story sort i got dash out and checked connections all seem,s to be OK put the wires back on now i am getting nothing i put anew guage on an it still reads nothing even had engine running fot 10 min,s no reading i have looked at the wires all look good is there something else behind the dash that works the guage as i am no lost manythanks paul

The problem may well be with the temp sender, and to confuse matters there are three of them. The one that feeds the gauge is the one that sits horizontally behind the dizzy, it is a single wire spade terminal. If you earth the wire with the ignition on you should see the gauge go to MAX, if this happens it proves the gauge/wiring is OK and the fault is with the sender unit.
Of the other two, one is the original LR sender and the other is a dual wire sender that feeds the ECU. when my original sender unit failed I used the unused LR sender but you do have to put a resistor in line I think I used 170k ohms.
I am planning to revert to the original when I get a replacement, and figure out how to get it off!
