New roof is now finished, going off to be painted black then wrapped in carbon look to match side scoops.
Hope to have the best of both worlds, and I can get in and out easily with the roof on. What do you think?

Looks good, where do you store the panels when not in use, I guess you have a way of locking them on?

Great looking solution. Please post finished pictures.

I could even consider a Can-Am with that roof and a few mods to the rear clam.......

Panels fit behind the seats. Can all be taken off with removal of 6 Allen key screws.
Not heard of the dip coating ?

You should have bought a GTR. wink
It does look very good, though. Well done.

It's a process whereby a transfer is transferred to a part via dipping it in water with the transfer laying on the top of the water.... With then a high gloss finish the quality of carbon is exceptionally good
There are a load of companies who do this, just send them unfinished part, they prime, dip and then gloss.
Pretty hard to tell the difference to be fair.

Such as "wickedcoatings" have a look in gallery.... Without being derogatory, but wrapping is a bit ..ermmmmmmm.........plastic.

intersting idea. very nice work. is it constructed out of sheet aluminum? Is it the same profile as the rear clam of the GTR? im wondering what it would be like if you swaped the rear clams over.

now that roof has given me an idea... a 917 year clip..

How close would it look to a real one?

GREAT WORK !!

I had a similar idea at the start but the problem I am seeing is that if you open the roof all the water that sits on it will run in the car ?
so I opted for a one piece roof that will either open to the front or back. It was almost completed when the grp's guy wife has thrown my mould away
so I have to start all over again........anyway very good solution I assume it is aluminium ?
Are you planning to offer it for sale ? I might be interested if I cannot find the time to complete my own roof and live with the water running in the car.

very nice indeed... why not take a mould and make it in carbon rather than cover it?

Very impressive feat of engineering thumbup

If I'd got a full windscreen, I'd probably be asking you to make me a set.... however, I've gone a bit hardcore and am building aero-screen only, as I think the Can Am looks great in low-screen mode yum
