On a whim i thought it would be nice to switch out the interior lights (its a 2000/01 cerb), as in the ones just by the passenger seats with led replacements, i felt this was well within my mechanical ability yet seem stumped by how on earth they are accessed. I have searched through the manuals and forums and can find no advice on how to do this.

It would appear the lights are attached to the furnishing around the c pillar quite firmly so i'm hazarding forcing these out is not the way to go, so would i be correct in assuming its a case of stripping the covering off entirely from the frame? Or is there a simpler way. I'm hoping some kind soul will take pity on me and point the way forward before i break something in a way its not meant to be removed.

Without looking I'm guessing they will be held in by a plastic ridge. There is the id for which car the lights came from on here. You might get some help from the parts list? But I'm sure help will be along soon.

Yes they just pull out by levering the plastic up at one end with a screwdriver. The whole thing comes out as a unit. If I remember correctly you should prise out the right hand side of the one near the windscreen and the upper ends of the rear ones.

Thanks for the tips, they were indeed merely stubborn, the interior has now gone from a rather dubious dim and seedy orange to a nice clean white thanks to some led's.

Could you provide details of which/what LED's you used (& even where sourced from....) please

Thanks so much.

I ordered a variety of sizes (37-39) but these 39mm ones arrived first, and seem to fit just fine.

A few of us did this a couple of years ago following another owner. It makes a huge difference

After trying to fit I can confirm the following. Release lights at the opposite end on button. However the 6leds are too wide and don't fit. In my opinion the 39mm length are too long opt for the 37mm single line of 3 LEDs for ideal fitting size.

Good luck all on flea bay now getting the correct ones

Totally, had them out yesterday and same issue off sizing. Single line of 3 LEDs needed. Just found a set of 10 cheap on flea bay so when they arrive will change in 5mins! Also going to wrap the numberplate recess in chrome vinyl to reflect the light in that entire area.

Pics soon.

Guys just ordered my 37mm interior bulbs -thanks for the info. Could someone clarify the removal process? Do you prize the lens out from the main surround or the light switch itself? Apologies for thickness but would hate to damage or break it. Thanks GG

You should find that the switch is embedded in the light surround/cover and the whole thing prises out. You may need to slip a screwdriver under the lip on the short side to push in the plastic tab, BUT be careful because the plastic is fairly brittle and can snap.

Boot festoon? Do you mean the number plate lights? Can't see any lights in my boot?

LEDs arrived this morning, all fitted (3 interior and 2 number plate) went for the 36mm slight manipulation of clips and all great. Boot light now in but could be knackered switch or fuse, not sure how to DIY check as switch screw is threaded and can't get it off. Help welcome. wink
