Can anyone give a bit of guidance/advice please. Up till recently I’ve always used Elements for processing etc (currently version 11) I’ve used it for getting prints – generally at A4 and have found the results to be “OK” up to this point.

I’ve recently acquired Capture One as an alternative, and straight away my print quality has shot up with much sharper better defined prints coming off. I can’t get the same results off Elements using the same print/printer settings. I’ve tried tweaking a number of things on both software and printer, (same RAW file) but still get far better results off Capture One.

At the moment I still prefer Elements for the processing side, but just getting a bit frustrated now I’ve seen the print quality difference.

Anyone give me any pointers as to where the difference may lie ?

Probably dpi, Elements might be set to 72 and C1 might be set to 600

Capture One does get the best results out of a raw file in my experience, have you a finished TIFF say which you could print through both apps?

How are you importing the files into Elements? Check the settings to make sure they aren't being resized at the same time. Same with saving. Make sure they aren't being resized or compressed.

Also check your print settings. They will vary from program to program.
