2 letter login name and changing profile details

I've ben on PH for a while now, and always had the same 2 letter username.

Lately I've been trying to change details in my profile and when I click to submit them, it says "Please enter a valid login name (min 3 characters)."

Does this mean I'll never be able to change my profile details without having to change my username to a 3 letter name? Bit annoying as I've been 'ol' on here for over 6 years and I'd rather not change it.
