Quad Bike as a donor

I have been following with interest the development of the American designed Formula Cross small rally car based on a growing range of quad bikes. Link www.formulacross.com
This got me thinking if it was feasible for an inovative british kit car company (MEV springs to mind) to produce somthing similar. It uses a small tubular chassis with as much of the Quad bike running gear as possible. A non structural fibreglass silhouette style body skin could be made to look like a miniture hatchback or even the classic mini shape which would be about the right size and is already available.
I would see this as a road legal go kart without the danger or inherent instability of a road going quad bike. Ok - top speed would be limited (although quads are getting more powerful)but it would be a blast around the streets and somthing a bit different without being too wacky to have any interest.

There are fundamental differences with the Vosa requirements for Quad bikes and Kit cars I think. MSVA and SVA?
I think the prime difficulty will be satisfying the requirements of SVA if in fact the creation needs to be tested in the UK as a car. I do think it might.
Stuart Mills Boss of MEV is an exceptionally able, energetic and knowledgeable Kit Car manufacturer. He is also very approachable. I would respectfully suggest that you approach him directly with your ides. I should make it clear that I have no personal involvement with MEV. I am just a retired Accountant who has been building Kit cars for over 50 years, for fun. I do admire the outstanding talents of Stuart Mills.

Afternoon qdos I will be happy to await the results I have no doubt you can achieve. I will (hopefully) be about on the Kit Car scene much more this year and I will take the time to catch up with you and your colleagues at the shows, starting at Stoneleigh. It is about time we had a new idea in kit cars and even Stuart Mills cannot have them all. For the last couple of years he certainly seems to have done so and good luck to him.Time we had a really practical kit car from a fresh source and hopefully with a really new take. Much as I love locosts (I have two) and Robin Hoods (I also have two) and locusts and Midas's (I have two Midas's as well) we need a new sort of Kit Car which at least equals the style and looks of the old Berkeley which has yet to be bettered in 50 years IMO. Come on qdos!
