Hi,

I've just moved recently and had a clear out of the workshop that is here.

Amongst the old books, paint, petrol strimmer, antique chair etc there is a boxed Mardave McLaren M23 Texaco Marlboro, which obviously has caught my eye. Includes instructions and so on.

Does anyone have any idea of the value of this? I have no idea whatsoever but a quick google has not come up with much.

The kit would appear to date to 1972, and I've got no idea about them.

I like a bit of retro action, though no idea about models, but is it worth anything?

I've tried uploading images from my iPhone, but think they are slightly too big. never put pictures up on here before, in any section.

However, I've borrowed the only info I can find on the web, which is another guy who has one.
Apologies for borrowing his pictures for now, but this is exactly the model I have, with box, instructions etc.

And I don't know where I got 1972 from. It is 1974.

I was left a load of interesting stuff here, well, to me anyway, but never heard of Mardave before, although I have some other 'rare' models from the 90's myself, like Minichamps McLarens etc.

And there is this image as well.

Lots more of the guy's car on a Tamiya site, but as I've said this is not my actual car or images. Mine is the same model, box etc

Mardaves were still really popular when I was into RC cars in the mid/late 90's. They used to make simple little 1/12 scale cars and had a pretty popular race series using mini and stock car bodyshells. solid rear axles and front suspension was acheived using little "biro" springs on the king pins. Not sure if they're still around?

I love these, have a good Mardave collection mainly Meteors, if you do decide to sell let me know I'd probably buy this if it's complete.

Thanks for that and your offer. I've got no idea what it is worth though!

Sorry about that. I've deleted the repetition you refer to.

I'm not selling the model at the moment, just trying to establish what it is worth, if anything?

Is £75.00 about right?
Or is decimal point in the wrong place?!

I think wildo liver is the man to ask, because if he makes you an offer, then that is what it's worth. As with everything, it's only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.

Yes I agree with you there, but he'll have to base a figure on something. Just curious to find out more and obviously value comes in to it. Same with the chair that is here as well. The strimmer was the easy bit to ascertain.

I would be happy to pay between £40-80 depending on condition/built or unbuilt/completeness of box and contents and whether there are any period accessories included (eg radio).

For something really special I could easily pay more but I suspect the model mentioned will be around those prices.

Bit of long shot - did you sell the Mardave?
