Quickest Rover V8?

There's an item on Eurodragster today about Steve Wells aiming to beat Steve Green's 8.33s run to become to quickest Rover V8 powered car over the quarter mile. Is my memory failing me, or didn't Tim Garlick run 7s with a Rover V8?

We're all thinking the same, well those who care are. My guess is that Tim's car ran a Wildcat motor.

Can't help I'm afraid. I only keep class records set under the appropriate criteria, I don't get into the "fastest 6 cylinder purple car with a driver called Bob" type "records", I leave those to the real nerds

Steve ran the 8.33 with a original Rover block, the Wildcat motor is a take on the Rover lump and both Tim and Steve have run 7's with those.

Hi, just to be clear we ran 7.68 with a small bore Wildcat, in the Cortina, weighing in at 2300lbs and with the 3.5ltr standard rover block/heads it went 8.70.

Paula ran 8.87 in Pro Rover in Aug 1995 at Santa Pod but didn't seem to better that in the next two years. Then I think they put a big Ford V8 in the car which put it into the low 8s. Steve ran his quickest times in Super Pro - after the RV8 Pro Rovers finished in 1997.
