Any W216 CL63 Owners?

Not an owner, but regularly drive the Bi-Turbo 2011 version. Absolutely lovely car to drive. The torque is fantastic and although people say the noise isn't as good as the 6.2 its still loud! The turbo whistle is very noticeable. The MCT gearbox is great, the same as the SLS's and it great for using in manual or automatic depending on what you fancy. Eco Start/Stop feels a bit odd at first but you get used to it and it makes a real difference to the fuel economy if you sit in traffic a lot.
If driven carefully I would expect 28mpg, but you would have to really push it hard to keep it below 20mpg on a long run.
When looking for one I would definitely get one with the upgraded AMG wheels as they look far better.

The headlights are the adaptive ones, which I believe are standard but are excellent. They turn with the steering and the main beam comes on automatically which I have found quite useful. This is standard on all new Mercedes with Xenon lights thought so nothing that special but they are fantastic. On a N/A CL, I think the adaptive lighting package only means that the fog lights come on when you turn corners as opposed to the headlights changing direction.
One thing I would have liked on it is the alcantara steering wheel as I have used this on a C63 and SLS and loved it.

I've just swapped by 2003 CL55 for a late 2009 CL63 with the N/A engine. Absolutely superb. I thought it would be difficult to match just how good the CL55 was to drive day-to-day but the CL63 does it nicely!
Mine has Designo interior plus most of the options and with 12k miles at just over 3 years, it was just too good a deal to ignore!
You'll be lucky to get much better than 19-22 mpg (that's what I am getting, regardless of how carefully I drive!) compared to 25-28mpg on the old car. One other thing to consider - it takes super unleaded unlike the older 5.5l V8....

I've always toyed with the idea of owning a W215 CL55 with the kompressor engine, however it just feels a bit dated now.
I suspect the 6.2 V8 will be hideous on fuel - however it's a beautiful car.
How do you find the ride between the two? The older ABC has it's fair share of issues which by all accounts have been addressed with the newer car.

Never had much of an issue with old ABC except a new pump under warranty. It just needed regular use.
New system is as good if not better.
One big change is the exhaust noise! Old CL was very understated whereas new one sounds like he'll is being unleashed when you floor it! Also, the new car is VERY quick and effortlessly so !

Lovely things but the gearbox is not the same as a SLS, that uses the box out of a Ferrari 458 which is a true dual clutch box whereas a CL/C/SL 63 all use the MCT which is a single clutch auto box 
You are correct there sir. I got a bit carried away talking about the 'box... The gearbox makes a huge difference to how the car drives. I regularly drive an R230 SL600 and although it is a great point and go weapon, the 7-speed 'box in the CL63 makes pushing on so much easier. I imagine a CL55 drives similar to the 600 as I have never driven one

Incidentally, how do you find the box in manual mode? I'm a bit worried about perceived delays between clicking the paddle and the box shifting.

Not sure if standard or optional but our 2009 CL63 has the full "turning" headlights package, which is the same as our 2007 GL.-Z- said:

It blips on downshifts and the changes are pretty fast. Nothing like an E92 M3 or GTR but fast enough to be usable. The gear changes are faster than those in a 2007 DB9 I have driven recently.Incidentally, how do you find the box in manual mode? Building on the headlights area - Main beam assist I think is excellent, but it seems to divide opinion. When pressing on on the twisties it means having your hands on the wheel for more of the time. StephenP said:

The later supercharged version of the CL55 is certainly more vocal than the earlier model you had. I think you would also have found a much smaller difference in performance, had yours been the supercharged version. Your 63 is certainly a lovely looking car though.
