Thorens TD 124 1960's Turntable....

This was in our loft for quite a while...about 25 years.....!!! My father was a real Hi Fi enthusiast, and had some really good Thorens/ Goldring units.

The time had come to get them to a new home....!

I have just sold this amazing piece of Swiss Hi Fi engineering to a chap in Greece...and I would like some advice as to how to package it correctly.

I do not have the original manual, and the buyer has given me a link to vinylengine.com so that I can download the manual.

Only thing is it will not download onto my Apple Mac!

So if anyone could give me some advice on to how to correctly pack it would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance

If it has sprung suspension (which it looks to have) then you should ensure this is stabilised, either by inserting some packing between the top chassis and the plinth, or finding out if it had transport screws. I don't see any place for transport screws, but they may have been underneath - these will usually clamp the top chassis to the wooden plinth.

Another very vital thing, ensure that the platter is not left in place during transportation, as the bearing will be ruined.

Does it have a dustcover?

Thanks for that.

It does not have a suitable dustcover, as it was fitted into a large ' bureau' type cabinet.

I am hoping to get a copy of the manual, but I appreciate your post.

I am not familiar with these hi fi separates, as you may have gathered !
