Well Mrs F-f and I have just returned from a Sunday lunch at a local venue which promotes itself as a high end wedding venue etc. It is right next door to Caldy, one of the most affluent places in the North West.
Not a place I would normally go but I won a Sunday Lunch for two in the rugby club raffle, normal price £11.99 per head. (The exact same menu for weddings is £22.50!!
The most godawful food I have tasted.
Starters of garlic mushrooms (costco)for her and pate (Asda 3 for £1) for me.
The main was roast lamb which was obviously delivered vacpacked as the slices were perfectly uniform thickness and no taste of roastness.
Tinned or frozen baby carrots, nondescript french beans and yes...Aunt Bessies roasts.
the decor was a throwback to the seventies and the other clientele made it look like the waiting room at Dignitas.
Next time I win the raffle I'm taking the talc & bodywash set!!
To give you an idea, this seriously was my cheeseboard!!

'Trendy' Asian fusion restaurant in town; known for 'interactive' tables and ordering.
Distinctly average and tiny dishes (two dishes we ordered were forgotten, one we waited 45 minutes for and had to ask twice). A round of drinks forgotten too. Not seated until 20 minutes after our booking (they were not busy).
Best part of the meal was the Cinnabon from a whole in the wall to eat on the way home

Out in a place in Leamington Spa recently for Valentine's with the other half. Had been there before and never had a problem but made the mistake of veering away from the likes of the pork belly and tried "Hallumi and date skewers with coriander cous cous". The chef hates vegitarians. That's the only reason I could come up with as to why it was so bad. Big lumps of cold in the middle cheese and whole dates along with mostly raw onion and pepper on sticks, on a big pile of undressed salad leaves, with a mould of couscous that had been sitting under heatlamps so long the coriander bits in it were withered and black. Combined with the fact they've dropped their 3 courses for £25 set menu I won't be going back.
I use to go into a curry house in Orpington High Street, we always got in just in/after closing time and made a bit of a mess.
Next thing there was one of those programs on the TV 'Top Ten Worst Of'.
It made the number one slot of worst curry house in the country. Use to wash any meat left over and throw it back in the pot amongst other things......

Had a couple of places that started well bit failed miserably on return.
One shut shortly after we went there for the second or third time - at our last visit the waiter walked off with our wine and the food was not the same quality, we spoke to the owner and she seemed uninterested and more occupied chatting to others.
More recently we went to a local Michelin starred restaurant which was our place for special occasions. We had heard the chef had been changed but were unaware that the menu went with him. On ordering what we were told was "a better dish than previously served" - the old one was called Chop and Chips, one of the best steaks and superb chips, the replacement? A marbled slab of steak that was 40% gristle, tasteless and a bowl of uninspiring chips. We ate a tiny bit of our meals and complained - to which they apologised saying they dont get complaints about it and said they would remove them from the bill. At the end of the evening I looked and the receipt and they had only removed 1!
Add to this the bill was still just over £100 for the 2 of us with the mains removed.... We havent been back since and no longer recommend it to our friends. Though I must see where the old chef has gone.

Rarely post on PH, but saw this thread title and thought I just had to post about the most awful place in Kegworth I ever had the misfortune to visit. Can't believe that Slippery has already posted about it!.
We were staying in a nice guest house up the road, and asked the landlord for recommendations. He did tell us to avoid, but having wandered about, there didn't seem to be anywhere else. My partner had a lasagne that was completely inedible. They even had orange juice as a starter !
Truly awful place!
