What do you feel a £90,000 911 Turbo S will be worth in 1 year, 2 years and 3 years time?

£75k, £65k, £55k ??

Expect will be many more available when 991 Turbo comes on stream.

I'm probably miles off but one thing is for sure, it isn't going to be an investment. If you can, just buy it and enjoy it...what a car !!!

Well the 991 Turbo will start to filter through over that period, but prices are likely to be c.£130k+, I would guess. So, Turbo S prices won't exactly plummet, they'll probably continue to slide by 10-15% pa, IMO.

I say that because I think they will be quite popular in the used market as prices soften. I'd consider one in a year or so at, say, £70-75k. Lot of car for the money.

Thanks for your Thoughts

I am thinking of getting a C2S or a C4S but I can't believe how much they seem to be Depreciating over such a short time (well the C2S is, the C4S is still very new)

Where as the 911 Turbo And Turbo S seem to be holding up quite well

I really like both cars - Decisions need to be made!

After the initial £30ish hit (2012 turbo S are around £100k), I suspect it will lose £10k pa and then an additional £10k on trade in year, if you are doing around 10k miles pa. That is 30ishk over three years depending on condition and spec

Though the 997.2 Turbo S is special wink, the supply in the uk has not been restricted and is approximately 330 - virtually the same as the 997.2 Turbo PDK, and to some, not as good as buying a 997.2 turbo manual with sport plus etc, giving it the same horses and torque (though only for a few seconds) as the Turbo S.

At the moment the cheapest Turbo S 2010 (cab) is £85,000 - £81k with cash? If you were to trade this in, you would probably get £75k. The original purchase price including options (big carbon package, rear painted seats etc) would of been around £136k ... yikes

I just sold a 997 turbo S, having sold another about a year ago and the sticker prices on the 2010 and 2011 cars have not moved down much in a year. If you buy one from an OPC for £90k today, they will give you £82k tomorrow and probably £70k in a years time as supply increases when the 991 Turbo is out.

They are great cars but I sold mine as they are just bonkers fast and that novelty wore off for me. The lure of a 991 for about the same money with the new interior and tech plus the amazing noise made by the PSE was just too strong. Sure, it's not as quick (but its still very quick) but it feels a lot more like a sports car than the 997 Ts, which felt a bit detached to me in the end. Just say "hippopotamus" and that's about how much longer it will take you to get to 60 mph in a 991 but it will get you there with so much more drama in my opinion. The Turbo S is so accomplished that it gets you to frankly silly speeds without you realising it.

Each to their own in the end and if depreciation is an issue, the 991 will most likely be worse than a 2011 Turbo S. Both amazing cars but quite different in what and how they deliver.

Sort of related, will the 996 Turbo S hold up any better in the long run?

I believe the difference over the regular turbo is PCCB and X50, the former questionable in value, the latter fairly available on std turbos. They seem to be low to mid 30's at the moment, but I guess with turbos heading to £20k, they could be low to mid £20's too bedore long. I think these were £100k cars in 2004-05. A fair old fall.

I think that there is pain ahead for the 997 Turbo.

It's not a GT3 car and while an amazing machine just not as desirable as a GT3.

Who will be buying these?

I can see them falling steadily for some time yet until they reach the realm of the enthusiast.

Thank you for this, I can understand all what you have put above, I am of the same Opinion as you on all of that !

I feel the most Sensible option would be to go for a one year old C2S for about £80k - but Sensible is not my middle name

I really feel I want to go for a C4S but not looking forward to it dropping £15k to £20k in the first year

Thanks for your Thoughts

Probably not a good idea to buy a Porsche 997.2 or 996 to try and limit and depreciation. Buy the one you like!

I bought a 991 c2s cab as it really is a great all rounder. The roof has moved on leaps and bounds from the 997, it's an incredible piece of engineering. PDK, sport chrono and PSE and you have all you need, coupe or cab. It could be that the 997 turbo S is an itch you need to scratch but if you go for a 991, I would put money on you not going back.

Now you do have a very nice car and when I saw it in the show room at East London it's part of the reason I am Struggling to make a decision!

This thread may degenerate in a turbo V NA one, but try both. The decision is an individual one. The 991 S is a game changer, unfortunately when I test drove it, I had just driven my turbo in sport plus mode like I stole it. The quality of 991, the ride and noise are absolutely fabulous especially in sport plus with PSE on those gorgeous 20" wheels. The handling and feel of 991 S in my IMHO are not quite as good as the 997.2 Turbo and the performance felt .. err pedestrian. Yes I know it isn't, the 991 is probably faster on the ring, but the Turbo in sport plus has 700nm and amazing grip in the damp on the UK roads hehe ... If you put an EOM exhaust on you get a GT2 like sound, though the Turbo S in standard form does make some noise, especially in a tunnel smile

Again it's down to the individual and subjective, but it's all about how the complete car package feeds your brain through your senses and invokes those good old emotions. My 997.2 turbo after 12 months still puts a massive grin on my face every time I drive it. My friend's 996 C2, for him, is still the best car package he has owned.

Thanks for your Thoughts its nice to see both sides of the coin !

I really like both cars so I will be happy either way i am sure

A good friend of mine has a 997 T S and its the fastest car I have ever driven (I had a GTR and it felt faster than that!)

I have to disagree. They are less specialist than the GT3 and, reading on here, the Turbo models always seem to have a broad appeal.

I'd consider one for the awesome performance potential, PDK, everyday awd usability, massive options list (everything seems standard on the 'S'), good looks (IMO) and the Turbo kudos.

I think prices will only really plummet when 991 Turbos are in generous supply.
