There was a post on here a while ago from a gent who was having a harness mounting bar made up for his Tuscan. Does anybody know if he had it done and if so what was the result (info, prices, piccies).

Asking cause I am *very* interested in doing this and before I go through the whole process wanted to see the results of anybody elses efforts (no point reinventing the wheel, especially not if it's cheaper not too!).

It is a real pity that there are no such mountings. I asked this whilst at the factory. Niel Anderson (chassis designer) said that TVR would not be offering anything like this - would have to go through type testing all over again.

Harness needs to be mounted such that it runs backwards fairly horizontal to driver's shoulder, if it is lower down, then in a crump, the driver is pushed by the harness down into the seat, compressing the spine - which is not good. An option might be to attach (weld?)a tube across the roll bar, at the right height to mount the anchorages on. I am no authority whatsoever on this - any interference with safety features is at ones own risk - but if I was going to have this done, then I would certainly seek out a real expert, because the heat treatment effect of welding to the roll bar would change its strength characteristics. Also, would need to think about the look of the thing - cover in leather and make good to the pillars etc.

The simple solution is a bar between the top seat belt mounts, using the same mounting points (i.e. bolted, not welded) and then covered or polished as required

I was going to talk to Martin Short at Rollcentre about this, but have never got round to it what with rebuilds and living in Holland now!

I'm keen to look into harness mounting so any suggestions or contacts people can offer would be appreciated.
