Tyre Selection?

Hi Guys, can anyone assist with what they think is the best tyres for a noble.

Not track day ones but for dry days?

I've been reading up - seems like R888's but is there an alternative/better or is it Toyo all day long?

888s are more a track than a general road tyre. Not very good in the wet. You'll be much better off with something like an Eagle F1.

The original tyres fitted by the factory were Bridgestone SO3's. When these were no longer available the factory recommended Pirelli P Zero Rossos for the 3 and 3r and Corsas for the M400. There's never any talk of these tyres now. I suspect price is now a major consideration.

Having just done some research on tyres for my new ones, look at:

Eagle F1's
Yokohama Advan Neova AD08
Toyo T1 Sports or R1R's (One Below 888's)

I use avon's and they seem ok to me.

As Rob says, Eagle F1 assymetrical is a good tyre, quite popular now as a summer road tyre on the nobles.

I thought the F1 being an XL rating means its better suited to a heavier car, or have I completely misunderstood?

R888s are horrendously noisy if you just want them for the road.

I've used F1s on my M400 as my road/wet weather tyres for about 4 yrs now. Brilliant tyre.

I have P Zero Rossos (I think someone else does too) and not only are they great on the road, they never seem to 'go off' or even lose any tread on trackdays.

Maybe I'm too nice to my car...?

I use the Bridgestones as my winter tyres and will use the Michelins (group buy) for summer and track day use.

I'm going soon for Rosso's on my M400,( I don't track it and the original Corsa's were very harsh on the road)to replace the existing Rosso's that have lasted around 19K miles!There's a deal to be had at the moment.

So, you got the special Porsche standard issue ones which come with that P Zero written in red. I was annoyed when I got mine I didn't do the same....i want that writing!! ha ha

Mine are going to last so bloody long, I won't ever get the chance to buy these Michelin Pilot sport cups that Tux has got. I really want them, the tread pattern looks so cool. Which is obviously the most important thing!

I used to swear by Yokohama AD08's on my old VX220 , incredible feel and grip and really lasted well on track . The perfect half way house between a road and track tyre
