I know it's impossible to prevent links to enormous photos, because the server can't automatically detect what the link target is, but huge pics in the middle of threads get on my nerves - you then have to scroll sideways to follow a thread and to be honest, most times I just don't bother - as soon as the words disappear offf the side of the screen, I lose interest.

Is it possible to introduce a "max width" for the thread window, and if pictures are bigger than that, then you can scroll the picture, but everybody else's contributions remain readable?

Seconded - bloody annoying it is.

In the Photography section we had a little house rule that said 640x380 or so max. Most people stick to it - but the thread could do with a 'sticky'

Easy to solve, right click on desktop, go to properties, click on settings, change resolution to 1280 by 1024. Everythink will now fit on the page without scrolling.

not so easy to solve if (a) your laptop doesn't accept that resolution and (b) some of the photos are bigger than that anyway.

I can probably write a bit of Javascript to resize 'em if I give it some thought.

...but you need a magnifying glass to read the text.

It's not just photos, of course - long URLs have the same effect. So does the long word for "bus"
