Hi All

Ive had an offer via ebay for the silver FHC 2+2.

The guy hasnt got any feedback, has offered £50 less than the asking price, and wants it to be delivered in with the price to PR8 2PE.

He hasnt made any other contact, or viewed the car, and the grammer is shocking.

What do you reckon?

I would be very careful. I had a few of these calls/emails when selling the Westfield. They all wanted to pay by PayPal and send a courier to collect the car. One had a USA email address. I only had this on P Heads though. Never had any trouble from the auction site it was on?

I suppose if he wants it delivered and is paying cash it's less of an issue. But take a big hairy mate with youbiggrin

Karl.

Hi,

It's got to be a scam surely? Who would buy a car like that without viewing or at least getting an independent inspection unless it was very very cheap?

Just my two penneth

He will be paying with a forged or stolen cheque. YOu have to bank the cheque and wait at least 10 working days before knowing that it's cleared _and_ that the far-end bank has released the funds into your account. To be safe I would put it in a little-used account with no balance and then withdraw the money as cash after 10 working days, before releasing the car.

P.S. Did he offer his shocking Grandma as a sweetener on the deal? ;^{)>

I know someone who delivered some stuff to a house. The people taking the goods had more front than Blackpool. It was not their house, just used the address to take the goods and pass a dud cheque, all on the pavement making a show of going in the house and all that. The people who lived in the house were all at work out.

Not saying it will be the same here but be very very careful.

He has just sent a message.

' I could send a cheque to arrive before the the transporter for your encashment, a bankers draft, debit card or by some other method such as money transfer or paypal although I'm not familiar with last 2.
Actual cash is awkward but I am open to any other workable suggestions'

I think Ill be holding for folding, cash is the only way.

As already mentioned be very careful especially with cheques and drafts, no car until its all cleared and into your nominated account. Get yourself a dud money pen and check the cash especially if all in £50's etc.

On the otherside of the coin I sold my OH,s car on fleabay and the guy bought it without seeing it for the prices we wanted.

He shipped up with the cash and turned out to be a TVR owner and a good egg so all good!

Careful careful as they say!

Chris

Hi Stu...If he pays via debit card then the card wont be authorised unless there is money to be had..I wouldnt go the paypal route as you can actually get money that has left your account back!..I know as i had to do it a little while ago...If you are prepared to count and check every note that they give you then cash it is..But just be careful mate..Never accept a cheque unless they wait for clearance by the bank..Money transfer is ok as there is no way they can withdraw or retrieve money from your account once it has been paid in and it will go in within an hour..It might seem strange having to give your bank name, Account number and sort code..Obviously no security code!..Or you can always transfer da monay to my bunk occount and i will transfer da monay bac to yaw bunk occount but it will be only be payable in ugandan dollas..Wah do yaw think ma fwend..biggrin

Hmm yes then they pass that on to a dodgy company that can do direct debits - and they reduce your balance drastically. Try getting anything back under the Direct Debit guarantee - it's not worth the paper its printed on these days.

Haha In your dreams BOY

She wouldn't meet you in Preston as it's in Lancashire (which is the wrong side of the Pennines)
and certainly doesn't "work" for less than 50 notes!!!! haha
