Webcam and motion detection software ?

I've just bought myself a Logitech Quickcam, but it comes with fairly limited software.

I'd like to set it up so I can automatically record video when motion is detected AND/OR set up a web cam whereby it takes photos ever X minutes or seconds and downloads the image automatically to my own web site.

Is there any software (preferably freeware !) that can do this ?

There is indeed... it's called "motion" and runs on Linux. You also need the "qce-ga" quickcam drivers from sourceforge. I've used this combination for remote security monitoring when I've been away.

motion if you run Linux is excellent. If you run Windows then there is homewatcher.

I'm not sure I can be bothered to wipe my machine and install Linux However homewatcher looks good ...
