Loads of old analogue kit...

I've been rooting around, and I've found loads of old kit.

Scanning around on eBay makes for some fairly confusing reading, regarding prices, so I wondered what anyone here thought about a value for this lot.

Should I sell everything individually or make it a giant 'bundle' type thing?

Is eBay a decent bet or should I hunt out a photography forum place?

Anyway, here's the stuff:

Ha, I did that for a friend last year. Do it one by one. It takes time but you'll get much more.

Lenses are usually the best items, old flashguns are junk, bodies 30 unless collectable. Brand helps; Schneider is a respected name but don't expect much for the Chonkomax 2000 you bought from Dixons in 1984.

I guess the Sony brigade will be fighting over the Minolta lens, as they can't afford new Sony lenses

Well you could cherry pick and scrap the rest.

I'm not a s/h expert but at a first guess the following would be worth listing:

Olympus OM10

Clean them, make sure they work and take nice photos! Watch out for postage costs - easy to guess and get stung.

Isn't the schneider lens for an enlarger?
The tamron - leather or fake leather case?
Also the value of the tamron will depend on the mount - is it a adaptall and if so which adapter? Some of the adapters are £40 on their own.

I'd list the AE-1 and the FD lenses as a set.

Yes, I think so,I have a load of developing kit and two 1960s enlargers too.

Closer inspection reveals that it is fake leather with real leather "hinge" and popper.

It says "200 adaptall" on top of the case. And "For Minolta SRT" on the connector itself.

Adaptall 2 was a system Tamron used which made a 'base' lens fit any make of SLR bayonet. I sold a Tamron 28-70mm f3.5-4.5 Adaptall 2 to M42 for £26 last year. It might be worth splitting the lens and adapter - but you have to draw the line somewhere.

I hadn't twigged there was an adapter on the bottom...

Would the lens not be rendered useless without the adapter present?

ebay them all seperately I think a free listing weekend is comming up for easter.

My canon a1 made £50 when I sold it on ebay

Also had a minolta xd7 which I bought for £15 in a charity shop that went for £30.

On its own I think yes - it may be 'Series 7' (a sort of modern day M42) - but there will be people out there who have the adapter already and just want the lens, and vice versa. You never know once you get into the oddball world of old lenses. Another lens I sold was a 1960s Pentax lens in rather poor condition; some enthusiast in the States snapped it up and said it was a design going back to 1920 as used in something else and he was delighted to find it... wibble...

For maximum return sell everything separately. But it is maximum aggro; your call

One tip - since many of your items are round, buy a couple of strong postage tubes of a diameter that allows room all round for bubblewrap. Allow an inch at each end for more padding, cut with a hacksaw and then cap with cardboard. I had quite a production line going, resulting in three piles:

Naked stuff 'for sale' (don't box until sold as you may be wasting your time)
Boxed stuff 'sold awaiting payment' (use post-it notes or you'll forget which is which)
Boxed stuff 'paid, ready to ship'.

If you're lucky the girl at the PO will be pretty...

Spend 10 minutes investigating which DSLRs your lenses will fit and add it to the title, will add considerably to the price they achieve.

It might be worth editing your OP to put the apertures of the lenses on. If the Minolta 50mm is an f1.4, for example, I sold my Granddad's old one on eBay for £38 a couple of months ago.
