Hi chaps.

Going to be buying a new build in Leicestershire in the next few weeks. I need to work out the best mortgage deal. I'm thinking 2-3 year fixed rate for now. Borrowing around 55% of FMV. Plan to borrow in my name and need around 2x my salary (no loans/credit commitments/wife works and earns good money too/had mortgages for much larger amounts before in past etc.).

Looking online low 2% seems possible. I have use Halifax in the past and they were easy to work with - all done on the phone/quick signature in the post. Any recommendations at the moment?

Thanks.

Depends on the amount of mortgage you require, if it's less than £120,000 you don't want to go for the lowest rate you need to go for the lowest fees. It's no good saving £25 a month on the lowest interest rate to save £900 over three years if the lender adds £995 arrangement fee to the mortgage. Of course, if you are borrowing over £250,000 a £995 fee or even larger can get offset by the savings you will make.
