How long should I leave it to make contact after an interview? I had my first in 6 years on Friday, I would say today would be a good time to send a quick email thanking them for their time and asking when they think would make a decision regarding the job. Is this still the done thing, or would I be considered pushy?

There is of course no hard or fast rule as you would expect. When I'm hiring, I ensure that candidates know when they will hear by. If they make contact before this date, it does not affect my decision-making process. Personally, I would leave it. If they want you, they will ensure that you know about it as quickly as possible because if you're good, you will of course gave other options running in parallel and they will not want to lose you.

If however on the other hand you are not what they are looking for, you may be the last to know. Writing in this instance may just get the no answer earlier than waiting for them to tell you.

Good luck!

Thanks, I will leave it, especially as I'm changing careers from sales they may think of me as overly salesy. I'm not holding out much hope as they said I should hear by Monday at the latest. At least it was some interview experience if nothing else.
