Hi all
In case anyone doesn't know, this is a 100 mile bike ride in August, closely following the route of the Olympic road race last summer. The organisers are hoping it becomes the "London Marathon" of cycling - 20,000 riders on closed roads. 50,000 applied; I managed to get in on a charity place. I am very excited about the event, but the pledge to raise £750 for the charity is very daunting, and I think I may have to withdraw because of this. I have asked the charity what happens if I don't meet the pledge, but like a good politician they managed to not answer directly.
If anyone knows of anyone else with a non- charity place in the event that they can't take up, can you let me know? I am willing to pay the entry fee plus a reasonable donation to the charity above.

Once or twice I have paid for a Guide Dogs charity entry to run the local half marathons if I have been too lazy to get a regular Joe Public place and the event sells out... The half marathon places were £200 so I just hassled the parents and the in laws for a bit then paid the rest myself, I do some stuff for the guide dogs anyway so its a preferred charity of mine and I wasnt too bothered.
You will get a lot of comms about the fundraising commitment both before and after the event, if you dont make the minimum target they will send you some stern letters about your commitment to meeting the minimum target etc etc and you will be made to feel very guilty but its not a Contract and they can make you pay it IIRC but You will of course, be going straight to hell if you dont pay up...
