Just musing at the moment, but I really need to do something with my dash, I'm fed up of the Rat look.

Up to now I have pondered:

Satin Black - simple and clean looking, but boring for a tvr.

Body coloured - for that 50's retro look.

Copper plated - Its a red car and could look intresting. But it could shine in my eyes, turn green, and I might have to plate the gear knob, stalks and so on, to match.

Leather or other fabric - not sure I could do a good enough job. But I would quite fancy covering it in stingray.

Or man up and just buy a new dash?

What do you guys think?

Getting mine re-don in carbon as we speak . Not a wholly original idea i know , but it matches the inside of the roof close enough (which has been on for far too long now with this weather)
I'll post up pics later if you're interested (can't do it from work). Contrasting leather could be good though.

I like the idea of carbon especially with a carbon "whaletail" like chimjunkie had.

+1 can't beat the wood dash, goes with the styling of the rest of the interior

Knock yourself out. I think a light burr might look quite cool...

There all really cool except the last one, lol. Phazed looks like a fighter plane, out there, love the Tvr badge.
I've got a new wooden one to fit. Keep looking at it, rubbing it! Got to get the heck on with it.
Zed yours looks spot on mate, I got to agree the wood always looks classic!

My new carbon dash is almost fitted and finished now. It looks fantastic.

The lower section is a bit of a pain to fit. I thought I had it all sorted then one of the clips broke away.

Pics to follow

Thank you smile They are from ETB, it was so nice to finally have working dials, apart from the speedo which I need to sort out, but Sat Nav is more accurate anyway

Sorry for the highjacked but I also have the 3m carbon effect wrap, it really looks effective. My question however is about the switches you've used in yours Bertram. Where did you get them and did you have problems mounting and wiring them up, any pictures our diagrams of how you did it?

Cheers

My dash is all finished now and I am very pleased with it. A guy from the TVRCC is making them with carbon sheet and this is the first of the earlier type he made.

A couple of pointers for those thinking of changing their dashboard. Measure the dial sizes you have carefully! Mine was made from a template of an early dash in terms of layout but it had smaller dials for the clock, petrol, oil and temp gauges than my car!

The fixing of the lower dash is a bit of a pain. My advice would be to measure the fittings that are used to screw the panel to the dashboard and araldite to the panel separately. Leave for a day to set and then fit the switches in place and secure in place with thin cable ties. You can then fit the other clips and leave to dry, knowing everything is in the right place...
