Hi guys, just like to say my car has just returned from Miltek and then AMD having got a new exhaust and remap.

The car is now upto 490+hp and 522ft lbs on the dynos.

On the drive home from Oxford I couldnt wipe the grin off my face. The noise is great and the extra pull the car has is fan bloody tastic. Mid and high gears are transformed, and though 5th and 6th gear acceleration before was pretty good, now they are just silly.

Ill try and get some recordings done and post a link on my server.

Max boost on the turbos has been .9bar so far.

Many thanks to all involved.

Godd Stuff! I'm getting a Milltek exhaust on my GT3 and would love to hear a recording of yours. What's your opion of the sound and levels at different revs. I know it won't be exactly the same but might give me an indication.

Cheers

Alex

Rich,

Did you have anything other than the exhaust and the re-map? Can I be checky and ask how much? I only ask as I'm thinking of getting something similar this Christmas. What did it make at the wheels? Any chance of posting the power curve?

Cheers, Steve, 996TT

Rich,

Do you know if the exhaust would pass the noise test at a track day ? I think its tested around 105db.
Did your tt have the x50 before the mods?
Cheers.

t urbo,

it was a standard Turbo b4 mods, Iam told the exhaust makes 100db on my car. So should be legal for track days.

do you know if they do conversions for the x50 and if so would you recommend them. How was your experience with them?

Nice one Rich.
A while ago you mentioned for chips:
"For me the options are
G-force
Stuttgart connection
DMS
upsolute
Im sure there are others.."

Why & how much was the AMD solution?

I've still got to get mine remapped and still thinking about using DMS as they keep the OME map headers and footers in the ECU.

On the exhaust, why did you choose the Miltek?

Cheers

Gerry

Yes please Rich, but only if it's not out of your way. I live and work in Kew so if you have to commute through West London I'm sure we can hook up. Drop me an email if that sounds possible.

Edited to say - I just realised that you said Saturday which means I can be a bit more flexible about the location depending on the time of day.

I am sure Rich will explain, but Milltek/AmD were 'chosen' as they were keen to get a PHer's standard 996tt into their mitts to showcase their talents. I therefore helped Rich negotiate a special deal with them.

I believe it would normally cost about £3.5k for the work to be carried out. I am too much of a gent to ask Rich what he got the work done for.

He seems happy enough tho' - 490bhp from a standard 420bhp turbo. The contact at AmD considered it was 'quicker than a GT2'.

Apparently you can't get 500bhp plus from a non-X50 Turbo as the turbos can't cope. If people claim they can, they may be putting the turbos under too much stress. Not good for longevity.

Incidentally, an X50 car with the same package should produce circa 520bhp.

Hope this sheds some light on it. Contact AmD for more info, or I'm sure Rich will be happy to answer more questions

Dom, cheers for that and please accept that I owe you a big fave.

The car is now extemely quick, was before but now its fan diddly tastic. The exhaust sounds absolutely brilliant. I was sceptical before about the sound an exhaust could create on my car but I am really really overwhelmed. It Sounds the mutts and no resonance, which was the one worry I had.

With regards the Turbos, max bar seen is still .9 which means that I am happy with the stresses placed on the engine and Turbo's.

Rich,

How do you stand on the warranty side of things now ??, i see your car is a 2002, so have yew extended it or, not bothered.

Would the mods be detectable by an OPC ??

Considering it for my Turbo Cab, but very nervous about warranty issues.

My Warranty has expired. didnt extend as I intended to mod the car as I have done.

I need to get a recording of the exhaust done, it really is superb, sounds so much better than standard.

The ECU would be hard to detect methinkd, on a hard drive monitoring max pressure on the turbos it would be seen.

The exhaust is very different to standard to look at.
