This popped up on good old ebay today

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221206235391;jsessionid=0909EAE6F114632A5648750A0D5A407A?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D221206235391%26_rdc%3D1

Would be great to have this back on the road, unfortunately I think my funds would run out before it would be finished frown

What a lovely little project.

Won't go for stupid money because it isn't a Mk 3

A very important little piece of history to be saved.

Started life as a climax engined car. I know they're expensive, but does anyone know how much it might cost to replace the climax engine? just curious.

Like the comment " would make an excellent historic race car "
So long as you steering, handling or braking are not required too often!

I think this is the kind of thing you have to look for ... every day. When the right one comes along, snap it up. Go to every yard sale, look on every website. Meanwhile, enjoy the car.

I was introduced to the collection of a gentleman in Padua, some years ago. He had a Tipo 61 2.5 liter Maser motor sitting on the shelf. When an engine-less Tipo 60 came up for sale, he did not even think.

Best,
B.

Here's a fresh rebuild engine for sale on the web at £6,500. http://www.historicracing.org.uk/parts/engine.html

Rebuilt, interestingly by a company called JOMAR restorations, but they do not list a Grantura in the applications of the engine..?.!

No its not that's very cheap for a Climax. In fact its cheap for an MG race engine.

Looks like its in the US or France

Sorry, i may be a heretic but this is just crying out to be finished off with the minimum of trim, plastic windows, fibreglass shell seats, uprated brakes/diff and a hyabusa in the front, paint it Ford Le mans green or Lotus Pistachio so people can see you coming and add black wheels to finish off. Monster fast road and track car weighing around 650kg (std car 710kg according to carfolio with trim and an iron engine).
