i think my crankshat is broken has anyone any info on engine parts or workshop books or settings
the front of the engine is not turning when i am turning engine over or when i put the car in gear and roll it back and forward. also took spark plugs out rear cyls are moving front are not . can anyone give me any contact numbers for parts new or secondhand has anyone had this problem and what other damage will i have eg valves cams rods

If it truly is the main crank, that could be a BIG job! How? Where? When?

I have spare crank shells and camshafts off 97 cerb if you are stuck.?

If you are interested I will be back in uk between 28th and 11th september. .

search previous posts on broken cranks.
When mine let go, pretty much everything was replaced with new. Its not worth going down the second hand route for this kind of stuff.
Reckon on anywhere between 4-8k to get it done, subject to the parts being avaliable.
Try tvr power, jools, & Paul Giddings at the factory.

Is it a 4.2? I remember picking my Chim up from Peninsula many moons ago and they were lamenting a very shiny but very sick Cerb they had there. Apparently the new owner was about to take delivery and they had just gone to fill it up with fuel and the crank and gone on the way back - less than half a mile!

They said at the time it was fairly common on some of the earlier 4.2's that there was a weakness in the crank.
