for some reason , no matter how slowly i fill the car up with petrol it will only seem to take about £25 worth of petrol and show half a tank. The only thing i can think of is that when it shows empty on the gauge it is really half full still.Though the other day the needle rose from half to three quarters for about ten minutes then fell back down again.Any ideas?

You should get around 250 miles per tank of fuel...fill her up with as much as she will take...keep a can of petrol in the boot...reset the trip-ometer and keep going until you either run out at 125 miles, which will confirm your "half tank theory"..or it will keep going until nearer the 250 miles....

it could be that the 'sender' unit in the tank has a "mis-calibration" or gets stuck at mid point...most senders work on a float/potentiometer(sp) reading (I think!).....

Or try dipping the tank when it reads empty to see if its half full!?!
