My Chim failed the m.o.t. yesterday on emissions. After the garage man let the car idle for the best part of an hour whilst he did the rest of the test. Then the start stop during the emissions test he flooded the engine which was by now running erratic and smelling of fuel.
Having said the Chim model-details were in the computer when I got home and fully read the gas analysis I saw that the printout was for a Cerbra straight six.
Q...are they different diagnostic gas readings?

I would have thought they are different as it's not the same engine. Need a TVR friendly garage!! where abouts are you?

Hi Spikep. I have been to this garage for the past 5 years, and no failures til now. There is a new guy there and is not very amenable. It failed on just the emissions, but I have a few advisories. ie. the rear drive shaft boot has the plastic ties holding it on, and he wants me to change them to metal.
I am just outside of Cardiff. I agree that the emission setting for the Cerbra should be different, but I don't how much that would affect the outcome.

Take it to Ron at Fforest Garage in Pontardulais, Cerbera owning, Mot test centre proprietor, who also services and repairs TVR's.

Thank you SwanJack and pwd95
I have 10 days to retry. I plan to give it a good blast before I let him test the emissions again. It was bound to fail with the engine flooded and running erratic. I was so annoyed with him. I still need to find out if the emission test settings are the same for a Chim as a Cerbra.

I happened to have my MOT from 2009 handy, cant imagine the figures have changed since then.

Fast idle test
CO <= 0.300%
HC <=200ppm
Lambda 0.97 - 1.03

Natural Idle test
CO <=0.500%

Thank you SwanJack. There are certain differences with my analysis compared to yours. I see what happens next week.
Thank you for that Dodsy

The test was carried out incorrectly, they ought to retest it for free.
