Urgent Help - Confidential advice wanted from recruiters HR

I have an interview coming up.

One of the questions is probably going to be "why did you leave your last job?"

The situation is complex, subject to an ongoing criminal case and possibly a civil claim to follow.

However I really am not sure how to state this accurately, yet not scare off a potential employer.

Thats ok then, if you've left because of a dispute with your previous employer then you can say that.

Be honest about it but leave out any drama.

Rather depends on whether you resigned or were sacked.

If you resigned then as 'Slurms' wrote tell them minus any finger pointing.

If you were sacked then tell them you are likely to dispute the reasons why by way of potential legal avenues.

Most employers may want to delve further but should respect your confidentiality.

Not sure you can expect to say nothing thought.

Tough one this, especially not knowing the circumstances and how to help you present it.

I would say be factual, but with a Criminal Case pending taht will be difficult. Additionally if you were across the desk from me and said, I'd love to tell you but there is criminal case pending, I think I'd be a little nervous of hiring you.

In the end, I would go with -

"very many happy years with the firm, enjoyed working there, gained some very useful experience. However at the end and event occured which was inconsistent with my personal values and I had to leave the business. The circumstances of that are likely to either be considered by a tribunal or other legal process, I like your jumper, that colour really suts you."

I called a few recruitment agents today about other jobs, so by a series of trial and error, I'd come up with just about Gargamels quote (although not quite as polished).
