I'm working on an idea of building a modern microcar based on a quad mechanicals and know MSVA will be applicable.
Windscreen availability will dictate the shape and I wonder if a rear screen would comply with the rule & regulations ? Item from a Tigra is tempting at present smile

Thanks.

You will have to consult the MSVA manual to find out what the screen marking needs to be then check the actual screen.
I expect the spec of the screen you propose will be OK.

This may sound like a daft question, but can you buy rear screens without the heating element?

Or can it be removed? May not be able to use a rear screen on the front though (if that's the intention) - Isn't a rear one toughened, but front laminated?
I'm pretty sure the front has to be laminated to pas IVA. MSVA may be different.

The MSVA manual says
Safety Glass must conform to one of the following European Standards;

British Standard: BS 857 or 857/2

BS 5282

BSAU 178

ECE Regulations 43 – e.g. E11 - 43R 002439

EEC Directive 92/22 – e.g. e11

So if the rear screen has one of these markings it is good to go.
Also the heating element could fulfil the demist/defrost requirement as well.

Maybe the case with MSVA, but with IVA there are max dimensions for the filament in a front screen - certainly needs looking into (or throughlaugh) carefully
