Wedge Memories
Discussion
I have a few good ones, but a couple that stick out are.
Overtaking on RNR 1 and just say nipping in before a bus as the dual carraigeway ran out. As i took a deep breath and thought that was close i looked in my mirror to see most of the guys had got in my slipsteam and nipped in to. Fantasic bit of driving.
Second is Peter Wheelers 5000M roaring out at BBWF 2009. Truely awsome sounding piece of TVR history.

I love these.
1) On the way home from my European trip on the ferry, we all got back to our cars and the traffic started to disembark. I went to start the Wedge and in that enclosed space the noise was immense, to the point where the lady in people wagon next to me jumped out of her skin and screamed, much to the amusement of her many kids and the people around us.
2)Same trip, enjoying the roads through Switzerland with my friend on his Bike, we came across the one pass that was closed. this meant driving my roofless Wedge onto an open decked train and ploughing through tunnels and the amazing mountains covered in Snow.Who knew rolling in a static Wedge is as much fun as blasting a Wedge, nearly. European Roads and Wedges mix well, very well.
3) When I first got the car, my little girl was 10 and while I had placed her in the car while it was still in my Garage, I had forgotten my shades, I started the car and got out to collect them off a shelf in the garage, only to turn around and catch her crying, the noise and the rumbling car had been to much.
She hasn't let me forget it and still considers it child abuse, even though she wants the car when I am done with. Fat chance as I plan on getting buried in it. : Okay maybe not but it sounds like it is a viable burial option, doesn't it.......no seriously......doesn't it !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Racing my 400SE against what was at the time the fastest road-going TVR in the country. (Fool that I was. lol) Mine is the one making all the noise.

Touring France in my 350i with the (to be) missus, I worked out that the central reservations on the A roads with a lane for turning left are just long enough to overtake a car+caravan, and I can see it's clear without having the missus spotting the gap.... cue unimpeded progress through France ;^)
On the same trip being faced with a tarmac 1 in 2 (I kid you not) ramp up on the way into a vineyard, the only time I could floor it in first and not run out of revs.... I certainly announced our arrival! Vive la difference!

My first BBWF.
(Mine is the red 390SE S2 at 3 mins 25secs). I also had the 280i FHC at that time...but couldn't drive 2 cars.

For me it's driving over to the Schlumpf car museum in Mulhouse. Amazing collection of Bugattis, if you haven't been you really should IMHO.
They have a car rally there in the summer and we got talking to a local who blagged us into the main parade.
We were the only car on a UK plate and the only TVR. The official photographer hitched a ride on the back.

My old 450se.
1. Picking it up from Hexham on a sunny July day, taking the roof off, firing it up and driving no more than 200 yards to the petrol station to tank her up.......paying for the petrol, looking back at her and thinking "that's mine"!
2. Elvington airfield driving her at a genuine 153 mph before running out of runway. Did this as many times as possible before the fuel gauge was near 0.
3. Elvington again, same day barrelling out of the tight bend and going nicely in 3rd when the back end goes big time under full throttle. Tell my mate beside me to hang on as I dipped the clutch knocked her into second gear and gracefully span her through 360 degrees carrying on as nothing had happened.......apart from the bit of poo in my pants. I knew watching videos on car control would come in handy at some stage.
4. Driving to Le Mans and her not missing a beat. First time abroad with her and soaking up the attention and thumbs up from French motorists as well as testing my French speaking skills to the limit in conversation with a very pleasant elderly French gentleman who was very curious about the 450, and completely ignoring my mates Griff.
5. Loads of stuff inbetween.
6. Driving through the Tyne Tunnel.
7. Trying not to cry like a big girl when dropping her off at Hexham when Mr Tank bought her!

Have a lot of good memories with the Wedge,
I agree with Carob that the RNR1 down Dumfries was something else, the other part to that run was when we were all lined up ready to go in the Mennock pass it was 3-2-1 we're off the noise and the sight of these cars going through the pass with everyone standing up to see what the hell was going on was brill.
At the bottom of that road we hooked left onto a small dual carriage way with a bus in front of us so i remember hearing a supercharger whistling up besides me Rob looked over and i smiled and gave a wee wave to go for it, like a bullet Rob was away with Carol still reading her book then i thought stuff it i'm going as well so got the 350i wound up and away i went with 2 other Wedges following me [o s
t] corner coming up all of us got in no problem, Rob couldn't believe it neither bid the bus driver who is still traumatised to this day, but they were no animals or plants harmmed on this outing of the Nail run just some pairs of trousers trying to chew the seats.

I replied "No sunshine this is a TVR". To which his answer was "My favorite cars are TVR's now like this is brilliant" Then watched his mouth drop open as i started it up and give it some rice pulling away up the road. It made my day big style!
Oh aye and watching the smile and the addiction take hold when i took Carob out for a run out for his first time in a wedge. Priceless.
