Lance to get gagging order.
Discussion
Yep it's happened. If you did not hear Lance in full voice, he is finally being gagged
Unfortunately for all of you, not the owner
The full fat 200 cell cats are being refitted and the intermediate pipe with some silencing to help get me through the noise tests
So 107dB will now hopefully come in under 100dB..... I will miss you Lance, but to the many people that have been gifted tinnitus and a massive scare as the full voice overtook you

I've been talking to mike about having the kit fitted on mine without the high lift cams, i.e. manifolds & 200 cell racing cats, as I'm a little nervy about messing with the cams on such a new car for all the obvious reasons
Plus the nature of the ltd ed. V12VR is such, somehow that 'line' between originality and modding seems a little more appropriate as it's 'just' an exhaust change.....ish !!!
But the reason I've posted those comments in this thread is noise. If I understand correctly, when the switch is fitted and the OEM backbox kept intact, you can choose where in the rev range the valves open
So I was thinking of having that point put right up the rev scale, in sport & normal modes, the effect being that the switch almost becomes a valve open or closed switch. Presumably that would solve any problems on a track as you could still operate in sport mode but with the valves closed ?

The valves open at 5500 rpm on silent mode as with that amount of gas flow I am led to believe that it would have a detrimental effect. Therefore on track or even when overtaking the full noise is unleashed in the upper range and that is just too noisy. Particularly crap when trying a quick getaway

As our chirpy chimney sweep says, 5500rpm is the maximum that the valves can remain closed at otherwsie backpressure would be very detrimental to the engine. Fine if you're on track and short shift every gear but that would get frustrating very soon! You would of course pass a noise test to get on track (done at 4500-4750prm) but it depends if they continue to monitor you like they do at Goodwood.

Useful to know
As you say, it probably would pass most noise tests to get on track, but you might not last very often once on !!!
