Is one available that can be adapted and installed by ones self?

I see the Torque Flow system uses this method, but I wanted to go down the route of ACT trumpets and perhaps a larger bore air intake.

What are your thoughts and is something available?

Blitz is your man for this, but I think a jag one can be fitted with some calibration tweaks.

You can used the Bosch unit fitted to the later Range Rovers / Landrovers running the Lucas/ Sagen ECU, or the Lucas 20AM, as used on this set up. Both are considerably bigger than the original, but the voltage output per given airflow is different, so you can either buy a remapped chip (ACT or mark Adams) to compensate, or if you are feeling brave you could try remapping the AFM output with a £90 box of electronics trigger wheels do to match the original AFM, but it will still need a rolling road session. I did design and test a circuit board that did this well enough, but I had trouble keeping the analogue electronics stable in a 130'c engine bay- so I never really marketed it as plug and play although I have about 20 units still. The jag AFM is no improvement.

The Torqueflow is just the stock sensor AFM in a big tube. The remap is just a chip from a 5ltr TVR, and then lots of tweaking of variable resistors that are fitted to the original AFM PCB to change its output to match the TVR chip, plus fuel pressure to try and get the fuelling somewhere near correct- but its a very in poor way of doing things- and very easy to get it horribly wrong. Its an old product now, and I seriously hope that its not being marketed as it was, as it looks like the current Turbo offerings from Torqueflow have moved on somewhat.

Thanks for that. Is there any point doing this with a standard plenum and what sort of power gains would you expect to see?

With the 5 litre engine, just changing the plenum/pipe & AFM to a Bosch item & getting it mapped by Mark Adams will make a big difference. Here's a pic of the AFM's. You can see a big difference in the bore size compaired to the weeny original on the right........

I remember this pic. Which one is which?

I'm a little reluctant about getting it remapped by Mark, simply because I've heard that it is impossible to track him down when anything needs changing and essentially it is a closed system. I was going to start with the trumpets and ACT induction system. But then I started to think about the size of the AFM and induction piping and wondered if there was anything I can do short term by myself. Once you start down the road of mapping etc, it starts getting to the point where you my as well change ECU... or am I on the wrong track?

A huge difference between the Bosch and the standard!
