993 aftermarket wind deflector?

Has anyone bought one and can recommend? After a quick google this seems to be worth a punt: http://www.vertar.com/vertar/wind-deflector-for-po... . It appears to be the same as others available from Design911 and Porscheshop where no drilling is required but about 80 notes cheaper. Thoughts?

Lol! I drove it this morning up the A34 for 30 mins when it was 1 deg, I like to think my hardcore credentials are intact :P with my 355 I did 90% of journeys with the roof down - basically as long as it wasn't raining. There was hardly any turbulence in the cabin and the heaters more than kept up. In the 993 it's just too blustery, not only are you losing any benefit if the hearing, but you're actually getting windchill to effectively lower the temp!

That sounds a bit harsh Ady - I bought a wind deflector from Classic Additions for mine. The wind buffeting was reduced significantly and my lovely lady wife now will actually grace the passenger seat with the roof down ; something poor old Ady can only dream about - solo

Wind deflector a must .Had 996 and i bought one for £100 later sold the car and on the test drive the buyer said loved the car but a lot off turbulence and cold on the back of his neck .Went back and fitted the deflector drove the same route and what a difference he said include the deflector and we have a sale .I know several 993/996 owners and all said it is night and day especially if you have a female passenger.

That would be fantastic and very important to me....if I was somehow standing outside the car watching it go past while simultaneously driving it.... 
When it's parked up at a car event on show, gawping masses admiring, tonneau cover will be on, windows down etc. Otherwise I'll take the wind deflector thanks
I've been driving my 993 Cab for years but as a matter of personal pride, I insist on leaving the top down (why else have a cab?) without a wind deflector. I find it's most exhilarating in a rain storm and driving bare-chested. Better yet, go for sleet (at most, a T-Shirt is permitted), but never wear a scarf. That's just silly.
if like me, you go for the hairdresser option then a wind deflector does keep the ladies happy.
my Mrs gets mighty fed up if we are going out and the roof is down; the wind deflector also acts as a wife deflector in that she doesn't moan about the affect on her well prepared hair.
When at normalish speed (up to 60ish) the windows are down and the deflector is too; after that it does help you hear yourself think!

Here goes for nothing .... please be gentle with me, I'm new here... a lady, who has her hair blow dried!, so yes, wind deflector is a must! I have upgraded to a proper Porsche now, from 996 to 993 and am looking for one... Should I buy a used Porsche one, new from some other company or does it really make that much of a difference. For my last one I managed to get a good used original from eBay, but for 993 there doesn't seem to be that much of a choice on the used market.

The aftermarket one I bought for my 993 has worked well so far. It does make a *big* difference in the cabin. It's still a little blustery, but much much improved. Buying one meant that I culd have the roof down when sunny and cold rather than just sunny and warm which I value a lot. Previously, the air blowing forward into the cabing would just freeze my hands and neck.
My one cost me about £200 new from memory. It's a little budget in build quality if you look closely, but from a few feet away it's fine.

It was along time ago but I once had a 993 with a factory one and from what I remember it was quite clever, would automatically extend & retract when you lowered and raised the roof - not sure the aftermarket ones do that.
It doesn't, but I just leave mine in place, doesn't interfere with my rear view and I rarely have anyone in the back seat so it's fine I have a 993 cab with the factory wind deflector and its a brilliant piece of kit, slightly higher than the other aftermarket ones, no buffeting even at 100mph.
It does go down / folds when the roof goes down and with the air pressure it flips up at c. 75mph.
Would recommend the factory one, lady friends tend to love the 993 with wind deflector fr more so than 355 or non deflected 993
