Well pretty much two and a half years after selling my 2008 C63 Saloon I've gone almost full circle and bought a 2012 facelift C63 Estate.

First impressions are wow what a difference to the 2008 car I first had, the car feels so much tighter and well balanced. Its amazing what a few refinements can make to a car, almost to the point its feel likes a different car. A noticeable difference is the weight of steering, IMO the added weight to the steering makes it feel much more settled and secure.

I am assuming that the Estate perhaps also has some different handling characteristics? Has anyone driven a Saloon and Estate back to back?

The car has just reached 2000 miles and I took it in for its Diff Oil Service, I had expected this to be free but alas it wasn't.

Have those of you with the optional diff paid for your oil changes? Interested to know as I could have sworn I read somewhere that the service was free?

Anyway I will get some pics up soon once I have cleaned it and worked out how to post pictures lol

It does state in the price list, under AMG rear axle limited slip differential in the AMG optional equipment, that "Complimentary differential oil change required after first 2000 miles."

I believe complimentary to be meaning 'free'. I've just ordered a Coupe with the LSD and will be clarifying this before pickup.

Hope that helps.

That's great I knew I had seen it somewhere. Can't understand how the dealership don't know this though??

Will call them tomorrow and let them know.

Eddie - saw the pics of yours, congrats.
Yet to see one in that colour in the flesh, have to admit it really shows all the lines in the photo's

Yes the oil change is free as I had mine in Jan. And it's actually at 1875 miles (that's what the sticker on my windscreen said).

As for handling, I couldn't tell a difference between Estate and Saloon. I would imagine the Saloon has the edge at the last few percent (stiffer body structure), but on the road you'd have to be really going some to notice I would imagine. However the Estate is louder for exhaust noise due to the boot space effectively being open to the cabin.

Good choice Shan!! What's the spec?

I think you're supposed to get a letter which lets you have the complimentary service; I never got one of these on the demos I ran though. Was yours an ex-demo?

I was always charged about £70 from our workshop for it.

Does this mean the RS6 has gone?

Sounds like a nice spec, they're amazing cars; the change to the gearbox was probably the most noticeable thing from the very first ones.

I'm in Dorchester at the moment - living the dream!!

Have to pop along to a meet or something soon, be good to catch up.
