Hello All,
I noticed some trans fluid splatter coming through the gap outlined in the picture. Does this mean I have to replace the axle seal? What is involved to do that? I have only disconnected the drive shaft before but never went beyond that. What steps are after that in order to replace the axle seal?
Thanks in advance!!

If it's a G50 with LSD you won't have to worry about shimming so long as you put it all back in the same order. Not sure about open diff though.
Looks like a billet side plate, probably the same config as Porsche but I would speak to the side plate manufacturer just in case.

Side plate off replace seal, if you have leaks on the other side of the box then it's the same but its diff out time.

It only leaks on the left side. It's a G50 with LSD. CMS side plate. They said it is the same config as Porsche. If it's a G50 with LSD you won't have to worry about shimming so long as you put it all back in the same order. Not sure about open diff though.

After removing side plate, will anything "pop" out that I won't know the orientation when reinstall? Any complication with replacing the seal? Do I drain the trans fluid first before removing side plate?

Nope. Surprisingly easy, drain oil, undo bolts and remove plate. After removing side plate, will anything "pop" out that I won't know the orientation when reinstall? Any complication with replacing the seal? Do I drain the trans fluid first before removing side plate?
You do not need to unscrew the side plate in order to replace the seals.
You only need to remove the output shafts by removing their inner screws and pull them out.
After that you can access and pull out the old seals with a suitable tool.
The new seals just need to be pressed in position from outside with a hammer and a flat piece of wood or something similar.
After that you put back in the output shafts and reassemble the whole stuff backwards.
It is not difficult at all.

Thank you for the clarification Andreas. I will have a go at this now.You only need to remove the output shafts by removing their inner screws and pull them out.
