Apparently, and this didnt surprise me at all...
the existing inlet manifolds are "a pile of kak!" (engineers quote)

Cheap inlet gaskets, weak trumpets, and a bogusly cheap fuel rail and associated piping!!!

So... (my wallet goes thinner)... new custom inlet manifolds have been designed to mate with the custom intake plenum...

Just a couple of pics of custom pipes and custom gaskets... ( more pictures will be available on the project website when I get the chance to upload www.projectphoenix.xt7.net )

As you can see, TVR's idea of an inlet gasket, some kind of woody feeling material... and the new custom one...

The new inlet pipes, all custom fabrication done using aircraft grade aluminium...

It was actually quite a nice feeling to see her today, made me feel all warm and fuzzy, miss her with a vengeance and a half!

Nascar setup custom massive rad will be plugged in, at an angle flipped backwards... with sheeted huge intake aluminium box tubing with a 3 mega powerful fan circuit setup... no expense spared in the cooling department... wait till you see how the HUGE custom intercooler is fitted in...

The other half decided to give me the camera set up in the wrong way... my fault... next time I'll make sure its all set up before I take any pics.... I was a little under the influence - but it was more from the intoxicating fumes coming out of someones RS on the rollers...

Nice job SXS! I can't wait to see this beast in action. Any idea of when the first stage will be finished?

Cheers,

Rob

Sort of, the reckon around November time - but it all depends on suppliers - nearly every component is being custom spec'd and manufactured like one-offs for this job - so there is a lead time on all things - but fingers crossed - would love to get her back in November, but I'm not rushing the chaps down there...

Standard?)
Did you know, the fuel line is plugged inline with the air-conditioning to keep it cool?

Oh and also, scrapping the whole Air-con pump and associated piping - more than enough weight reduction to balance things out - plus the new position of the rad and intercooler etc etc will put where closer to the middle vertical to the wheel where it should be, rather than stuck up right at the front...

SXS

The woody material is there to reduce the amount of heat that travels up into the fuel rails etc.

Sounds like a valid enough reason, but still, they were not of good quality and had a number of little splits...
the whole project is being over-engineered so many of the things are being re-designed... I just hope the block is strong enough... eeeek....

also, cannot believe how 'skinny' the rear driveshafts are!!!

Would that be phenolic sheet?

SXS refered to woody material so maybe it is? Is it porous?

And just for the record, the boxes inside the engine bay are NOT real carbon!

There are also rumours, that what they call leather interior - is actually a mixed base of synthetic polymers and some real leather....

Oh, and lets see who knows where they use cardboard! yup - you got it, its in there somewhere - guess where.... hehe

The fuel gets cooled by the aircon to decrease chance of vapour-lock in hot weather - definitely helpful given this actually happens. Can see it on my old engine - www.dannylt.com/cerbera/FuelCooler.jpg.

Certainly a brave and no-expense-spared modification madness - good on you

Who thought the airboxes where CF? Some were imitation print, most are just black.

Cardboard. Errr. Certainly there are often bits of wood/plastic/cardboard to help pack the battery into place?
