I had a flat battery a few weeks ago on my vantage roadster. After charging the battery, the car started and has been fine since. Today I went to lower the roof and a message came up telling me that the roof operation was unavailable. Do any of you know if this needs to be reset at a main dealer or is there a procedure to reset, like the windows?

Last year i went to change the sat nav disc in my 2008 Roadster - (so has the dvd version not the hard disk).

It's located behind the seats and you have to put the roof down to access.

I changed the disc and then the roof would not go back up again.

Straight to Aston , the roof module needed to be replaced (common issue apparently).

All covered under warranty and had the car back 24 hours later.

I had a similar problem with my car.

Battery went flat. Windows wouldn't work correctly nor would the roof.

I took the fuses out in the passenger foot well, turned the ignition on then off, re-fitted the fuses and all tickety-boo.

Aston heritage, it means they are still using 1970's electrics.

Why are Aston dealers in Herts/Bucks area rip-off merchants ? servicing is just so expensive, why ?

Just do a window reset, no need to take fuses out.

Not using 70's electrics. Like most manufacturers (excluding VAG Group) buy in their electrics / electronics.

Servicing expensive? Its an Aston! What did you expect? Hourly rate is similar or lower than some German marques

Mine did this until the battery had a LOT of charge in it. It could be that you need to make sure that you get more charge in your battery.........

Yes, I know it's an Aston, says so on the tin, that's why I can't get my head round it, it's pretty old technology, it's nothing special.
I can't see any reason though for servicing costs being so high, technology is not on a level of the new strain of Porsche/ Ferrari products. All top end marques have much better value specialists, you can get good deals on Ferrari servicing, Porsche servicing, etc. even main dealers will do deals - but not Aston Martin's, well not round here.
What did I expect ? Not to be ripped-off, that's what.

And the window reset never did get my roof working, fuses out both times.
