Bleeding - Avid Elixir CR's - (no blood involoved !!)

Just ordered and received a brake bleed kit, for my Avid Elixir CR's. Having watched the bleed youtube vid's, I thought I'd have a go.

The kit came with brake fluid, and this is my question. All the brake fluid I've seen in the past, Cars & Motor Bikes have had a viscosity similar to light cooking oil (sunflower/Vegetable oil, etc).

The fluid supplied with the kit is like lightly coloured water, and has no noticeable viscosity at all.

Is this just crap supplied fluid?, is this the right stuff to use?, or should I not use this and use some good old fashion DOT 4/5.1 - which is what I assumed all hydraulic brakes used...?

I thought all Avids used DOT 5.1.
Is it the Avid kit?
Some other brakes (Shimano I think) use mineral oil.
