Both top nuts off - abandoned job after 4 and a bit hours at 1 click at a time.

Oil filter chain wrench now obtained for next session.

But ......... no swearing yet and no grazed knuckles (yet).

And at last after a final 10 hrs under the car, the mounts are both changed!!!

Achieved maybe 1/2" lift off the ARB


The damage needed to remove the old ones


This little fecker on the passenger side caused the delay - drilled and cold chisel in the end


And now at last, I think I've earned one if these

There should be a Blue Peter badge for changing engine mounts on an S.....

I was going to suggest a Scout badge, but it would be cruel to send a boy scout in there to change them. Mind you, it would only cost 5p in labour.

If you had the body off and the engine out would there be any mod you would do to make that job any easier??

I'd say change them while the body is off and engine out and worry about in 20 yrs time!!! ;-)
