rear hub carrier
Discussion
hi mark, yeah it looks a lot better, i cant weld very well but i certainly could have done a better job than originally. i'm off work all week so going to view a couple of scrappies for seats. kwikcarpartz on the auction site is only about 30 miles and tgey seem to have loads of seats so i'll go along with a measure and buy a cheap pair to get through the test and get a decent pair in my leasure. other than that it's the pods. Should all be easy fixes as long as the weather stays fine.
heres a pic of the back of the rear hub with tvr emblazened on it. Any idea what the "4" means?
After the MOT start on the interior, new pads discs, hopefully have it in a good enough state that it will make it to the bbwf in 2014
cheers

I'm 99% certain the early cars didn't have anything there... it's a foundry mark rather than something that TVR would have needed, so various possibilities - batch number, month of the year, operator code, casting machine number (though I suspect they were sand-cast rather than die-cast as it's a horrendously expensive process to have casting dies made, not usually viable for small production runs)... or 'other' according to procedure marcus

That welding doesn't look too shabby, it's big piece of alloy to get enough heat into. Usual procedure would be to pre-heat the part in an oven, then do a quick wire brush-up of the joint area and get cracking with the welding torch. Looks as though the lower areas has been dressed on a linisher or similar.
evening guys, thats the hub carrier fitted. the bearing was removed, no oven used, he said they use calor gas to keep a constant heat rather than having the heat dissapate up the alloy when taken out the oven. A linisher was to finish it off.
phone the mot place tomorrow, 2nd time lucky....
