One of the previous owners of my car must have been a bit vertically challenged as there's an old bill in the history for the raising of the drivers seat. I am on the tall side and whilst I do fit OK, I would like to use the door mirror witout fking my neck. I'm assuming they adjust, or something has been wedged / inserted underneath. Are they reasonably easy to remove for a novice (just so I can see what's been done and try to undo it), or could this get messy?

I don't know if it bothers me enough to pay for somebody to do it, but I'm spending this weekend tidying it up anyway (including so some of the carpet around there) so may just take the seat out.

Thanks

Taking the seat out is a 10 minute job, 4 m8 nuts (13mm socket) underneath the body, make sure you clean the threads as best you can with a wire brush and a squirt of wd40 will help for an easy job.

Four nuts and bolts through the tub. If you poke your head underneath you should see them. They will probably be rusted and covered in sikaflex but should be an easy job otherwise. There are probably only a few washers raising the seat above standard.

They will do the TVR logo for a small fee ..these were fitted to Riggers old car .

These seats will keep you in one place ,great for track days .

I think you are right. The above are Westfield seats IIRC which are more in keeping. I have lost a bit of weight recently and I find the original seats aren't actually that bad.

I didn't know Telford was either a tax haven or lost in a time warp. VAT is still 17.5% in Shropshire, it would seem.....or that price list is several years out of date.
However, both sets look nice. What's the comfort like for a boney-arsed old 'un like me with a bad back? I find the standard seats remarkably comfortable.

I don`t think the standard seats are adequate for track days ..

The company who supplied the cream one`s are at the Newark kit car show every year ..|It`s a large TVR gathering on the same day ..

Temping as it is, I'm sticking with standard. Want to keep the car as original as possible. DAB radio maybe, but that's it.

tbh i think your both right

the standard seats arent any good for spirited driving (road or track)

but they are very comfortable (I also have a bad back - though im very far from being boney-arsed im afraid)

I suspect that if they could increase the temperature of a normal heated seat pad by 50% then they'd melt enough lard on my arse to get me to fit in those things perfectly - however I tried getting into an Elise seat that was in a Chim a couple of weekends ago and I found I had the option of one cheek or the other! biggrin
