My Subaru Impreza STI version 2
Discussion
Here is a quick share of my 1996 Version 2 STI...just a quick set of photos from the phone I thought I would share with you all.

Clean

My favourite shot from yesterday

It has very nice specification which I'll update soon, she is running a healthy 320bhp and with a few other modifiations. I'm happy and love the car!

Very nice. Clean and original. Seriously tempted by one of these now because they are so cheap but so good to drive. Don't think I've been in any other car which just begs to be driven hard quite so much. Had a UK Turbo which I loved but would go for an STI now. What's the earliest model that got the DCCD? I hear that it makes quite a difference to the drive making it a lot more oversteery, which I like the sound of :-)

If you want DCCD you have to go for a JDM Sti RA (4 door) or Sti Type R (2 Door). With them you usually also get a lighter weight car, with things like a functional roof scoop (as aircon was made an often chosen option) thinner glass, less sound deadening, Manual windows (normally leccy ones were specced tho) no sideskirts and unpainted handles and mirrors as well a others I cant probably cant recall...If you want the earliest then itll be a late 1994-early 1995 car (version 1) These AFAIK were the last of the handbuilt Sti.
Anyway, Nice car OP, heres the brochure if your interested in having a look :P

Thank you very much for comments guys, I've tried to answer as many comments below!
The car has had a few tweeks:
Handling:
Brembo upgrade conversion/EBC Yellow stuff
17'' STI later generation wheels, only ones that fit with little issues
Kumho KU31 Tyres
Tein Superstreet fully adjustable coilovers, not too harsh and set up for B roads
White Line Anti roll bars etc
White Line Anti lift kit
Polybushed all round
Spec C laterial arms
Full Group B Irish Tarmac ;-) Geometry set up
The car has the tendancy to over steer rather than my previous which understeered...it doesn't have DCCD, I didn't want an RA as I wanted a few creature comforts for the extra 30kgs! I'm considering DCCD for this, but I only want to add the later 6 speed and knock it down to 5 speed (strong box) and do it that way.
Engine:
Underdriven pulleys
Link ECU (self learning) very aggressive and mapped to 320bhp@1.1 bar on UK fuel 99 octane map
Group N Organic Clutch
Equal Length Headers
Ceramic coated downpipe
Sports Cat and Exhaust
STI short shift
Millers CFS 10/60 Motorsport Oil/Blueprint Oil Filter
Interior (Pictures to come):
Provious STI version 7 interior
Now Genuine rare Prodrive Recaros
Prodrive WRS Carbon Momo Gearknob
Sparco WRC dished suede Steering wheel
SARD Boost gauge
Ipod interconnection to radio
All electrics checked and working
Alarm/Tracker with all documentation for insurance
Exterior:
PIAA Rally Spotlights / Prefer this look over the STI fog covers
White painted sills, skirts (planning removing all to go for RA look)
Gold wheels/Brembo calipers (deciding whether to go black)
Planing black unpainted door handles as per type RA model
There is plenty more I've forgot, but thats a brief list.
Problems:
I'll be honest yes it had problems when I first got it as the previous owner crudly installed a GReddy Turbo Timer and it would shut down the electrics, so time was spent by a very able close friend deleting all wiring and rewiring car, since then and with the new ECU the car is a peach! Incredible! You have to consider its a highly strung car, so there will be issues to its a case of keeping on top of them and it'll be pain free motoring, but things happen even to the mint cars.
The ECU had a few cold start map issues when it was fitted, but now it is running at a healthy 1.1 Bar of boost and it really does drive! The car has the short gearing and weighs nothing, so bang for buck it is incredible, I've driven many supercars and it will make all look silly on a country lane! These cars were never designed to be motorway cruisers, but cruising mine will achieve easily 25+mpg lol on 99/100/102 Octane fuel!
It still has the genuine rear spoiler and the infamous (unless you know, you don't know) stickers. Its as OEM/JDM without ruining the look and astetic of the car!

It has always been my dream to own a Version 2 STI and I doubt I could find a better model and I love mine, its staying as close to standard as possible. It has full Japanese paperwork and UK paperwork too.
I'm 25 and on fully comp, fully mods declared policy, with the car being declared the policy costs £750 per annum!!! So running costs, are very much the same as anything, it has a 45 litre tank and when I last went to Europe in it, I got 250 miles exact brim to fuel surge! On a cruise ecomony 80mph whole way run! I don't use it every day, it is a make the world smile kinda car and it has heads turning the world over! It attracts the right attention and I know I'd rather drive this car over anything. It comes out on those special days, rain, snow or shine, its a car that needs to be driven and when it does...my smile beams side to side!!!!!!!!!!
You are able to get decent Turbo Impreza's for a grand or so, STI's in decent form for 2k, but this one I paid a much higher premium as its incredible condition and history file were brilliant. I would suggest looking around and waiting till you find the right one, this one was a few months searching and it came up at the right moment and I couldn't say no, I even had to sell a kidney to raise the extra revenue to buy it, but by gawd it was worth it!
Any comments welcome!

Very nice, I love the low rise spoiler on these older ones. Any shots of the rear?

Nice car dude, I considered white my self, got a black v3 in the end! Addictive cara aren't they, when your on a mission you can just watch the fuel gauge go down lol!
Got to ring roger Clarke and order a new wrx sti boot sticker. Only about 40 quid so was quite pleased to find those.
Are you going to return to the standard 16" rims? I bet it would handle much better!
Discovered mine has a leaky radiator yesterday, so going to take it easy with mine until the new one turns up! Found some OE spec radiators for 40 quid, happy days. My impreza itch won't be scratched till next weekend. If ya haven't seen my thread here is my beast

Drop by a stick a pic or two up on mine! Nt many clean ones left now, we have to stick together lol
Great work

That is very impressive, what engine has this got! I wonder if its a closed deck being a v2?
As far as I'm aware, a sweet cared for open deck STI block. It may be a closed but I highly doubt it. It has had a few bits added to add the extra Bhp with the pulleys, Forge Radiator, exhaust etc etc etc. It has a VF34 ready to be installed. Also the ECU makes a hell of a difference, we calibrated it beautifully. I'm really happy with result, not may things will keep up with it, at least till 130mph, then my gearing cancels out. Bang for buck an STI is the way forward and the later generations don't have the same feel or connection as the early ones, I had an 2003 STI UK PPP and was really disappointed with it but this one I couldn't be more happy.Any way, as promised here are some interior pictures...hope you all like ;-)
BEFORE:
STI later generation seats NOW REMOVED

NOW:
Genuine rare as hens teeth, Prodive WRS Recaro interior!!!

All I can say this is the most comfortable beautiful interior for a road going Impreza.
when I collected the car it had this gearknob....NOW REMOVED

Which I've now replaced with this beautiful piece, a Genuine MOMO Prodrive WRS Carbon Firbe Gearknob

It also has the steering wheel normally seen in Group A/Group N/WRC cars, a genuine Sparco dished suede wheel (more on that model later):

And for anyone interested...it came with full Japanese paperwork, this car had it all...its a shame, I don't have a clue what any of it says...but here is my owners manual:

Again, do not know what any of this means!!!

Someone, mentioned going back to OEM 16'' wheels, with the Brembos, it is not possble, I have to be 17'' to accomidate the huge calipers!

It still looks beautiful dirty!!! But you can see 16''s will never fit in a million years

But I do like the look of these wheels...the Prodrive Speedlines...I am yet to trial fit them to see how they fair

As you can see grot free and in superb body order...BUT keeping a white car clean living in the countryside and in winter periods, well...

Especially with roads like this:

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO back to that rare Autoart 1/18 model...a.k.a I love the black door handles etc

I got bored one day and thought I'd try some depth shots with my camera phone to give the illusion it was real...did it work, feel free to give feedback, something a little different ;-)

The model looks so real compared to my STI

Here is true scale...spot the model!

And finally...one I've just found on a gravel road a few months ago
