I've been offered a brand new 12GB PS3 Super Slim for a very good price.
My only concern is that it doesn't offer enough storage.
I'm only going to want it for game saves in the short term. In future I may install a second drive for the purpose of anything else.

So my question is thus: For a few LA Noire, Mafia II and saves for a couple of other games, will this be completely adequate?

I'm sure it will be fine, you can always upgrade the hard drive:

Thanks, I've already earmarked the caddy and a suitable, well-priced 160GB drive. I suppose that 12GB will only struggle for storing films and whole games etc?
I'm out of the loop a bit....I had a PS2 about ten years ago but I know little beyond that.

Games often install 5gb+ to speed things up.

Depending on how many different games you play, 160GB might be on the smaller side of things (especially since HDDs are so cheap these days).

I've got 640GB in mine, and I'm almost at the point now when I need to start deleting things.

If it cheap go for it, ps4 will be here by the end of the year, if you are looking at spending more for larger storage wait till then when they will be cheap or get the ps4

I'm really not a big gamer (I haven't bought a new game since about 2004 and haven't played one of any kind for several years).
I've bought the PS3 and ordered a copy of Mafia II. If the 12GB constricts me, I'll buy the mounting bracket and a new HDD (since they're so cheap nowadays).

Thanks for all the responses. I can't wait for it to arrive!

By the way, should I order an HDMI cable too? My TV is 720p (no, I'm not going to buy a TV to suit) and would it make a large difference over AV?

I would've been, but I've already ordered the 12GB and a 250GB Hitachi hard drive now.

Thanks. I'll drop into Poundland when I pass one. They always seem to have a selection of that sort of thing.

I've been waiting to play Mafia II since it came out. I have the original for PC, but my computer wouldn't manage Mafia II. A PS3 seemed like a much cheaper alternative to a gaming PC smile

Also, is there any reason why I shouldn't buy something like this?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DUALSHOCK-WIRELESS-SIX-A...
Or should I just stump up the cash for an official one?

I'm sure it will 'work' but no doubt they will have scrimped on parts/battery to make it cheap so it might not last as long.

Buy right, buy once.

OK, I'm ordering a proper Dualshock controller smile

God, I'm excited. Now I just need to choose some more games. And I actually chose a 320GB hard drive, as it turns out, rather than 250. Bonus!
