Throttle cable solderless nipple
Discussion
Any tips for installing a solderless nipple on the end of a throttle cable? My cable operates a Holley carb with mechanical secondaries and the throttle is quite heavy since there are, effectively, 2 sets of throttle plates to open and the mounting at the carb end is close to the pivot point. I've already suffered the solderless nipple at the pedal end pinging off (car was thankfully parked-up at the time).
Just how tight can you get away with doing up a solderless nipple? I'm anxious of stripping the threads, but obviously I want to be sure the nipple is not going to come off the cable just when I least expect it. I've thought about a dab of solder on the end of the cable for added insurance? Or filling the hole in the nipple with solder once the cable is in and clamped-down?
