Possibly the coolest thing ever - B2 Sky Camo paintwork

I was reading up on the B2 this morning for something and noticed this:



I'm still not quite sure if it is an April fool or of it is genuine, but the literature states:

"Global Strike Command and Whiteman AFB Unveiled the new Strategic Combat Objective Response Environment (S.C.O.R.E.) paint design for the B-2 Spirit Bomber"

Genuine or not, I think that is the single coolest looking aircraft ever

Surely if the enemy is close enough to visually identify a B2 then someone has messed up big time??

I'm guessing if it is a genuine scheme it's more to stop them being spotted when on the ground as its a similar colour to the concrete they park on.

Or to make it a hell of a lot harder to see the plane if you look up at it from the ground or down from the air, the fact it is on both sides suggests its for veiwing from above and below.
Also wasn't the B2's black paint part of its stealth? The stealth capabilities are seriously susceptible to issues such as rivets/screws standing slightly proud and the aircraft's return jumps in size.

I heard (could well be an urban myth) that the best camo at night is actually dark pink but the brass in the USAF "didn't want no pink planes" so they ended up black.

Not a myth - the RAF also experimented with dawn/dusk camo on Spitfires - the aircraft is still around
