Hello,
Can anyone in the New Forest area recommend an independent specialist for servicing/repairs of TVR's in particular my Chim? I am aware of Fernhurst and Racing Green in the south but both are some distance away. I am told that Dorset Sports Cars know about TVR's; has anyone used them? Maybe PM me if you've had a bad experience with any that are suggested.
Thanks, Peter

Hi

Good to see another Chimaera owner in the New Forest! I thought I was alone.

I’ve been to Dorset Sports Cars to have a look at their cars, but never had any work carried out there. I think the best place to go is Southways Automotive in Fareham. http://www.southwaysautomotive.co.uk/SSC2/ The owner’s are on Pistonheads and have a love for TVRs and kit cars.

Hi Dan,
Have been following your posts (and others) and am pleased that there appears to be a few of us about the Forest! Like you I have recently taken leave of my senses and bought a Chim and am having similar problems with tickover/rough running at low speed. I am told 'they all do that' by various 'experts' but would like to get everything checked by someone who knows/cares about these beasties.
Let's see who the good folks on here come up with?

Great, I hope you enjoy it.

I'm fitting a new coolant sensor and then going to take it over to Southways for a 12k service and get everything checked over so I can be confident with it for some long summer drives.

I'd guess at Stepper Motor for the rough tickover, easily done at home, but let Richard get his hands dirty while you make the tea smile

Hi there,

I am based in Salisbury and have used Frenchmoor Racing for about 5 years now (http://frenchmoorracing.co.uk/). Depending where you are in the New Forest, they won't be a million miles away.

Mark is the man to speak to and is really helpful and loves TVR's. He has owned a number and always has a few when i drop mine off.

Hope this helps

Just in reply to the OP -

I use Dorset Sports Cars for my Chim, and have found them infinitely more knowledgeable and thorough than anybody else I have previously used.

Their head technician Andy Bennett was one of the TVR technicians at Le Mans - which I think speaks for itself...

(Note: I have not used any of the other garages mentioned in this thread, so cannot/do not presume to use them in reference to this comparison)

Hope this helps,

Dom
