As the title suggests really.

Having only ever purchased Pre-owned Aston's, I have to say that the buying experience hasn't left me feeling blown away.
The cars seem to sell themselves. If there are then any issues, I've always felt that im a burden to the salesman rather than a future prospect.

Am I unique or have others found the same?

I have had a great sales and after sales experience from Grange at Welwyn. They buying process was fun and they fixed everything that was noticed on the car before I picked it up. I do think they were miffed that I went to BR for the six year service and didn't renew the warranty but even saying that they still contributed to getting my drivers door mirror recoated.

Always have a nice chat with everyone there when I visit and of course there is always the next Aston to buy smile

I've also found Grange to be run by a thoroughly decent bunch of blokes. Very down to earth and definitely none of the "are you sure you can afford one of these" nonsense that I've experienced with other brands. They are approachable, knowledgable and quite apparently passionate about the marque.. No experience of Exteter branch, but would definitely recommend both Welwyn and Brentwood.

Don't get me started on this subject. mad

My dealer is situated a couple of hundred miles away from me. I had a few problems which the dealer sorted out and I got these fixed more locally.

However, I had a few more problems that needed sorting out but when I e-mailed and phoned about them, the dealer who sold me the car stopped replying to my e-mails and didn't return my calls or send items owed to me. It took me to contact the top man with a phone call and then a follow up e-mail to get things sorted.

Eventually things started to get sorted and when the head dealer asked me to e-mail him when I received the items I was owed, he didn't even bother to acknowledge the e-mail!

Fingers crossed my car is now up to a standard that it should have been on collection and I have the items that I was promised, I can now enjoy my car.

Harwoods in Chichester, the other dealer I turned to when my original dealer failed, have been very helpful and I am grateful to them. I have had my clear rear lights done by them and I will also get my side sills done by them too. I will not be going back to my original dealer as I had a poor after sales experience with them, so they are going to lose out on the sale of the extras I am going to have put on my car, their loss.

If I do change my car in the future, I will not be going back to the original dealer either, so they have lost my custom and also future sales.

So some dealers are very good and some are awful and just want to sell you the car and forget about you, well that's my experience anyway.

Both mine came from Exeter they were great on the used one and sorted all manner of niggles as part of the deal. The gave me a good part ex against a new S and got me a deal from the factory on a build to my spec
Shame they were 450 miles round trip away frown
A couple of Stratstones branches were completely the opposite on sales and service.
Jockman put me on to JCT in Leeds who have been great on the service side and keen to offer deal on the sales side.

+1 for Grange at Exeter. Bought three cars from them and always been very well looked after. Servicing also gone well and even talked me through problems when we broke down in Spain.

Glad the majority of PHers are getting the experience you dream of when buying an Aston.

Bomberh, looks like its just us in the club so far then frown

The one observation I can make though, is that it would appear two different customers can walk into the same dealership and come away feeling they've had totally different experiences!

I’ve spent the last 2 months going backwards and forwards from different dealers with a difference in what I want each time, from manual to auto DBS, to DB9 to Volante, and throughout they’ve all been very helpful despite my inability to make my mind up. My guess is they know Aston owners will normally stick to the brand and someone who does not buy today might well buy tomorrow.

My only comment would be inflexible bunch of B*****S when it come to negotiating!

You're probably right there, unfortunately cars in the Aston bracket sometimes attract all sorts of cocks (present company excepted, of course) I've been in the showroom when some ignorant st of an old fat man wearing tasteless gold and with a brain dead bimbo in tow starts barking his orders as if he owns the place. You know the type, absolutely no idea what he's looking at, all he knows is that it'll outdo his mate's Audi next time his at the golf club, which he thinks he owns. Not realizing of course, that his bimbo wife, probably called Chardoney, is shagging the pool cleaner thirty years younger than him and is hung like a baby elephant holding a bowling ball. Meanwhile he's spouting off to his mate on the 9th, who also secretly despises him, that he's ordered a new Aston Bentley 458 but there's a bit of a wait because he's having Barry and Chardoney stitched into the headrests in gold thread. He was going to have Doreen, but that's his ex wife's name. Ever since her 65th birthday when Barry paid for her new tits and a face lift that makes her look like she's permanently surprised she's been having spray tans to impress her tennis coach because shagging Barry reminded her of a wardrobe falling over on her with the key in the door, so she divorced him for half of his hot tub warehouse business and a tennis coach who thinks he's Cliff Richard.

Sorry, I digress....eh, yes......what I'm trying to say is that it must be hard to be able to cater for every type of customer.

I have some 23 years Motor Trade experience. When I first walked through the door at Broughtons in Cheltenham I was armed to the teeth with Knowledge of how the trade works, then I met Rachel; This delightful young woman is very switched on . If I was to be really honest my first visit was to simply flirt with the brand. Too late this young Lady did not put one foot wrong and I found myself swept along. It is so nice to be dealt with in such a professional manner. Some 3 months later Rachel was reversing my first new Aston Martin into my garage. Six months later only to be replaced by my current V8S .

To be brutally honest Guys I tried so very hard when I was selling cars. If you receive bad service or ignorance when you visit an Aston Martin dealership be prepared to walk . Same applies wherever you go.

LD - one assumes you've met Mr Gould then? hehe

Most Dealers are fine, with the odd idiot, but I do personally find the service depts better to deal with than the sales depts. they just seem to appreciate you that little bit more.

Don't overlook a good Indy for sales either - John McGurk springs to mind smile

Lol, I treat everyone in life, the way I would like to be treated myself. Hence my interest in others experiences.

Cannot speak highly enough of Broughtons at Cheltenham. I find them the most helpful of ANY garage I have ever been to.

Rachel in sales is a diamond and Ian in servicing really looks after you once your purchase has been made.

And that's not it.......whilst most if not all Dealerships forget about you once you have made your purchase, Broughtons keep in touch with you with regular phone calls.

This is a lesson in customer service that is on a par, dare I say better than that of in the States - and that is going some !

My third AM will definately be coming from them, the wife just doesn't know it yet laugh

I was disappointed recently after making an appointment for a co Director at one of my companies to visit Strats Wilmslow. Even told them what type of car he was looking for.
He drove nearly 200 miles to come and see me and I took him to the dealer in my Vantage. Turned out they didn't have a DB9 like the one be wanted so there was no point taking him for a test drive. Pointless visit and embarrassing.

I should add that the service department has been flawless. Over the moon with them.
