Bleeding the cooling system

Any known methods of bleeding the system.
Found a weep in the rad , have removed it for repair.
When its back and in what delights are ahead ?

I just fill it up with coolant, let the engine run with the expansion cap off and help by squeezing the pipes. Then top up as required, I also give the engine a fw blips to speed up the pump and help to vibrate any air out. HTH.

There is a bleed bolt in the top of the radiator, I loosen that to let the air out of the rad when filling, then follow the filling, running and squeezing routine as above. Don't be surprised if it spits some out of the expansion tank when fully warmed, it's just a sign that you've over filled.

Ah yes forgot to say about the bleed screw on the rad!

Rad repair does not seem too straightforward.
It is 2 years old from a South based TVR 'dealer' , fitted to car before I bought it , paid for by previous owner.
They are actually supplied by the fellows who I have taken the rad to for repair.
The design is not great and it has failed where the tube enters the body of the rad so very hard to get to and of course no soldering as it is ally and too close to body to get a weld in. Rad repair fellow has an alternative and he is going to do this tomorrow for me.

What are these rads originally from , is it a Range Rover mark 1 ?

Talking to repair fellow and hunting this forum they seem to fail with great regularity ?

Sounds like they may be talking it up. I took mine to a place in tunbridge wells and it was recored in 24 hours. Basically a new rad with tvr end caps at a fraction of the new price.

I had to replace mine a few months ago as the 'specialist' that fitted the recon rad didn't bolt the fan cowlings down at the bottom and just rested them on the rad, hence vibrations over time wearing down the ally rad fins!!! Numpty cowboy fitters!!! I prefere to do all repairs and maintenance on my own car, that way I know its done with full care and attention and not just a quick repair to get the next one in. Also when you do a job you can clean parts around it including bolts etc as you go, a 'specialist' wont bother doing this!!

Anyway, I got my rad from Aaron radiators, he did me the unit delivered for £300.

The repair fellow I am using had a new unit in stock for £225 plus Vat.
However I am going to give his repair a go.
I also do all my own repairs and servicing save the clutch I had done at Straight six.

Ok, new Rad is in and by dint of circumstance I have retained the original unit , known to be only two years old, and with a leak.

Options are to have it re cored, Can someone tell me where near Tonbridge was mentioned ?
Alternatively someone good with welding ally would be able to fix it so sell it as it is .

Who can recommend a place to have it re cored ?

also don't forget to take the hose off to the heater after you get water coming out of the rad. Little tip from Jason at Str8six
